One of the best ways is to match the statements of self important elitists like Cameron and how there actions and behavior never matches there self rightous statements. Fact is any human being who has the nerve to claim DVDs are wasteful while releasing so many different editions with the obvious goal of getting people to buy the movie multiple times is a hypocritical douchbag of the highest order. |

If anything, Cameron is actually reducing the number of Discs by releasing Avatar 3D seperately.
Releasing the Disc with the collectors edition would be a waste as most people would have no use for the disc. Now THAT is utter waste. Releasing it seperately would mean a smaller, more controlled run, as they would take into account the amount of people with 3D TVs. |

Not to mention the length of the film, clocking in at roughly 3-Hours in it's self. Hell, they even had to drop features on the Cloudy/Meatballs Blu-Ray to include both versions. So your point doesn't hold water in this case, as it would indeed require a seperate disc. One of which would be pointless for most consumers, due to the slow adoption of 3D TVs. |

It is true that the extended cut of Avatar in 3D will most likley need two discs but the quality 3D it produces would be more then worth it. Since the multiple cuts could be done with seemless branching that is inconsequencal. A version has already been released with the movie on one disc. The Lord of the Rings Extended Cuts are spread over 2 DVDs its really not that bad. Its worth it to have the best version of Avatar home theatre can offer. |

The argument bieng made here is really the same as saying Blu-ray shouldn't have bothered with 1080p or lossless audio, as most tv's and recievers upon it's release couldn't utilize it. |

If having 3D on disc would mean splitting the movie, then thats just another reason why its fantastic that the 3D version is being sold seperately. |

I think the film will be on two discs, regardless of the absence of the 3D version.
If the original TC is included, that would be three different cuts on one disc. Lesser bitrate than the TC stand alone release, and a waste of electricity on several boards as punters will complain the movie is not as good looking as the original release due to lower bitrate, for months. It might be that the TC is on disc one, and both the extended cuts on disc 2, but I doubt it, as the FPE release standing now on my desk do not mention the presence of the original TC. Of course, I could wrong. Or I could be right. Film spread on two discs. |
