ANy chance you could take one compared something? Do you have the 300 ultimate edition? How does it compare to that. Just trying to work out how it will look amongst my other titles. Also how deep is it and how thick is it?

I can take photos later tonight, unless someone beats me to it.

Thumbs up Not bad at all.

I have to admit that I am really impressed by the Avatar special edition. I looked at a copy in a store, and they did an excellent job with it. Of course, people would have been rioting in the streets if they hadn't. I'll have to check out some of the features on youtube.

Default Avatar ECE FTW!!!

Couldn't agree more! I finally decided to join the Blu-ray.com community just to gush over how excellent this extended collector's edition of Avatar truly is. The extra 16 minutes really make this film feel complete, especially the new opening on Earth. The packaging is similar to the Alien Anthology set, in other words, it's freaking fantastic. Sliding the discs would bother me if this was dvd but I've never had a blu-ray disc get scratched from sliding it against the cardboard. Can't wait to dig into the extras. I have a new found appreciation of Avatar now and can't wait for the sequels!

Good man.
I am happy for your enjoyment.
I recall the anticipation for the first release of Avatar was the reason I joined this forum myself as well.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I don't know what took me so long as I've been coming to this site for as long as I can remember and it's my go to source for everything blu. Nice avatar by the way Marcus. I'm assuming you're also a fan of Terminator Salvation. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I have been visiting this site for 6 months before joining in myself.

Its simply impossible to absorb all information and to keep up with new releases unless you dont visit a site like this.

Is this your first blu ray title?

I stopped by a Best Buy, unsure about picking this up, as I wasn't too fond of the film, visual effects and filmmaking aesthetics aside. But after seeing the packaging, but more importantly, hearing and learning about the extensive behind the scenes material, I folded and grabbed it. And I have to say, this is how a "special collector's edition" should be done.

Bollocks.

My local Best Buy doesn't have one single copy (either Blu-ray or DVD) and Walmart is rockin' a $34.96 price tag for their copies.

I am not fond of the film at all, but I am eager to see the package for myself in detail. I did almost wet my pants over the visuals though, I am a card carrying eye candy whore. $29.99 isn't a bad price, I wouldn't turn down a copy if I got it for a gift, but I don't really want to pay $29.99, and that price certainly won't stay long. I just noticed that it's $24.99 on Amazon, I may bite the bullet.

Amazon, it's cheaper than BB. I went to BB, and it was $29.99.

I'm the same way. The film, as far as scripted content goes, doesn't work for me at all. But it's hard to deny it the compliment of being visually stunning. And a big factor was price, as well as additional content. I wasn't expecting such a price, considering how much it was loaded with features. They probably could have got away with pricing it at least ten dollars higher. Again, it's entirely your choice, but from one eye candy whore to another, it's a pretty sweet package.

You can always check the pricing on Best Buy's website and then order online and do an in-store pickup.

Best Buy's site has it for $24.99 but that doesn't help when the local store doesn't have any.

*sigh*

Good idea, I would like the reward points. I can't go until tomorrow though, and I probably can't watch my copy right away anyway.
