I don't care about the size of the packaging. I'm just worried about the discs getting scratched since they're just being held by cardboard. I avoided this with the Alien Anthology by buying the UK edition. I'm not sure if I want the UK edition for this one. I've never seen the cardboard things in person, just in pictures.

Could I get some feedback on those and if anyone ever got their discs scratched from it or had any problems with the packaging? It would be very much appreciated.

My Alien Anthology is still fine no issues here! Blu-ra has the protective layer that prevents scratching, which is great!

Well I know that, but just I'd think that removing them in and out over time would scratch the disc. I wish that I could have one in my hands just to see it in person, but I don't know anybody who intends on double dipping. Damn.

Anyways, I'll be waiting for it to drop in price. I don't buy Blu-Rays for over $17 unless they're VERY high priority to me (*cough* Inception *cough*).

Unless I find a coupon or I see this drop a bit in price, I won't be buying it. I'm excited for when I do though. I never bought the barebones edition, since I was waiting for this edition all along.

When you get it, please post what the Steelbook is like inside, or if possible, photos would be cool also. $43 (+ $6 shipping) or so for that is Almost reasonable IMO, especially if it has the same 3 discs of movie & added info. Though, to be honest, I'm a bit leery of it shipping from Seoul, South Korea.

That's cool, any $$$$ saved is always a good thing.

Who is issuing a coupon for this, new news to me...

I believe he's talking about having Best Buy "Reward Zone" points that added up enough to generate said coupon.

Bro, I'm exactly the same. I can't purchase a movie with a slip-cover that contains even the tiniest scratch like marks.

I haven't been able to purchase this newer edition of Avatar since I still own the standalone version, but I was wondering if someone could take a clearer picture of the entire thing. I know Blu-ray discs can't get scratched easily, but the discs don't look secured in that case to me...

They're secured well enough. Unless you're a child of 5, you should not have any problems.

(not meant as an insult; just saying as long as you're an adult, & know how to take care of things/be careful, you should be good to go)

I hear you, brother. By the way, would you suggest me getting this version and replacing my bare bones edition of Avatar?

Looks like Best Buy has killed on line ordering with the in store pick up option.

A little OCD on my part . There are a few small scratch like marks on the bottom of my front slipcover. I was curious to see if anyone else had them?

Did you inspect before you bought it? That's what I do before I check out.

I got mine from BB and I had to choose the best looking one, but I didn't have those scratches you're talking about.

Yeah the finger prints are hard to avoid unless you handle it with a MF cloth.

The thing that irks me is when the cashier would slide the movie across the decoder counter thing, or they stack the slip and movie on the counter.

Yup and they all had them and hey were all beat up besides the one I found. Target... I'm going to a different Target to just exchange the Slipcover. The one I went to I guess had a bad batch. Or maybe I'll go to Best Buy and say I bought it there and my slip was damaged and if I can exchange that alone which I doubt they care as long as I replace it with mine.

Yeah I don't go to Target because they have a habit of either throwing the slips, or damaging them with their security devices.

I was on the fence but ended up selling my basic version and getting this one. Its NOT my favorite film by any stretch and I dont agree with the ham-fisted "message". But, I do think the extra footage/extended edition will flesh things out a bit more. And, its a crowd-pleaser so you have to have it on your movie shelf.

My total "upgrade" costs were about $15 bucks figuring in what I got for the old one and what I paid for this one so thats reasonable to me.

The ones at Best Buy all have big white price tags on the front of them I haven't tried really removing mine yet but it looks like it may be stuck there.
