There hasn't been any mention of the set being limited as far as I know

Nah, it's just a label. Nothing rare about it.

ah okay. well im still debating whether to get it or not, since GF got me the barebones (she knew i loved Avatar). I saw the C.E. and fell in love with it too. So I might just buy the CE for bonuses.

It seems amazon has the best offer on this movie?

I got mine today at Target. $24.99. It seems to be the going price everywhere. But I may just off and not open yet. Wanna see what black friday has, maybe has them marked down. Go back and return and get the sale price. BTW wife does not know I got this today . Been buying too many lately, just ordered The Expendables yesterday and Avatar today.

I would get the CE if you love Avatar. I do not ususally watch bonus features much, but will with Avatar as it's now in my top five of favorite films. Problem is I don't know which one of my previous top five should get knocked down to number six.

Amazon doesn't have a post-order price guarantee. Once the day it ships is over, you won't be able to get it price adjusted. I wouldn't worry about that anyways since I highly doubt this will go on sale. This isn't directed towards you, but it seems some people think everything will go on sale during Black Friday.

I wanted to mention, I love how in the scene in the Extended Cut where Jake tries to explain the floating mountains, he ends with "...or something"

Its really charming, and at the same time funny, as you'd think Cameron included the scene due to people whining about not understanding how they float, but Jakes delivery just ends up pointing out that the explanation is totally irrelevant lol, so Cameron is poking fun at the people who want the explanation while he gives it to them

finally watched the 16xtra minute version. i definitly thought it was more satisfying. it just felt more complete/natural. it fixed one problem i had: when jake scares the thantor hammerhead thing, and he says yeah run back to mommy blah blah. that seemed out of character in the theatrical. the alternate opening makes his cockiness seem more natural. unfortunatly, the extended creates one horrid problem:
[Show spoiler]the scene with the tribe around the fire, natiree tells jake her name. well she looks wack. her eyes are all messed up, crosseyed and kinda stupid. anyway they messed up her eyes. i dont know how this shot got through quality control.
besides that one shot, i thought the extended version was awesome and worth the upgrade.

I went to Best Buy and got it for $24.99 today, even though the in-store price is marked as $29.99. There weren't any workers walking around, so I just went to the cashier and politely told them I saw the Avatar CE Blu-ray for $24.99 online (which it is as of this week: 11/14-11/20). The lady at the cashier was nice about it. She scanned it to check and it came up as $29.99, so she called someone up who checked its price online in a separate room. The other lady came back and confirmed its price of $24.99, and that was the price I got it for. No hassle at all with that interaction.

Also I went to Best Buy because I enjoy inspecting my product, especially BDs with slipcovers, before I buy them. At places like Target or Costco, they have either empty cases that you bring to the cashier or their stuff is locked in a plastic case or a locked shelf, thus forcing me to get the copy they hand me because I don't want to be "that guy' and ask to get a different copy because the one they gave me is not perfect.

I'm actually trying to resist opening it and watching it at least until BF is over, just in case there's a better deal somewhere that I can get and then return my copy.

I don't think there will be a better deal somewhere, chances are $25 is as good as it'll get. Heck of a deal for a release like this anyway, really not all that much more than the barebones release went for when it first hit. Will probably be $15- at some point in a random sale next year but this is it for now.

I agree, but I'm not in a hurry to watch it so it won't hurt to wait a week, just in case . I mostly bought it today, like you said, because I think $25 is a pretty good deal for this - though I try not to spend too much more than $15 on a BD unless it's a new release I really want. Also I'll be seeing Harry Potter 7 next week so I'll be focusing this weekend on rewatching HP 4-6 anyway.

The explaination is not totally irrelevent. It was absolutely retarded for the theatrical cut to present something so outlandish without an explaination as to how. Unless you want to just say magic. The added explaination was a definute improvement to the movie.

Not to mention it explained what Unobtainium does. The theatrical cut is really an embarassement in the way that its entirely about obtaining unobtainium without explain what to hell it does. That information is extremely important for the movie to work.

The geek in me had to correct you. The "Thanador" was the black cat like one that chased him. Not that hammerhead. But the Neytiri scene was fine for me. I didn't see any tech glitches or mistakes, so I'll rewatch that scene. You should do the same.
