I have no doubt IMAX will upgrade their projectors in 2012 for the release of TITANIC 3D, since that film is 194 minutes
I saw the Avatar Extended re-release at the Digital Imax in Wimbledon,London. Although it was my 6th viewing of the film I was again blown away by it,and in no small part to Imax Digital 3D,it's just ridiculously great, and the sound...

You get a lot more of that in the Deleted Scenes, particularly the Festival.

I also like the Hunt as it helps to establish that the Na'vi aren't 100% Peaceniks They still hunt for food and are great warriors.

Actually thats my favorite part of the Extended Edition. The theatrical cut made the Na'vi look too much like Victims, however in the Extended Cut, you get a much better sense of them and you can see that they are proud warriors.

I LOVED it a lot more that I thought that I would to be honest, as some of those sweeping shots of Banshees were fantastic plus...

[Show spoiler]
- It showed the weakness of the animals nostrils for a more humane and quick kill. (Which I noticed for the very first time today, that was exactly how Neytiri put that Viperwolf out of its misery during Jake and Neytiri's first encounter) Did you happen to catch that neat little detail there?

- And Neytiri's "HELL YEAH!!!!" repeat to Jake's just after he became a 'stone cold hunter'.

I noticed that too Duffy.

Makes me wonder where Jake put the knife in
[Show spoiler]Tsu'tey at the end

You know whats funny about the Hunt being included right before the "Stone Cold Hunter" line? The Hunt is originally supposed to be AFTER Jake and Neytiri are chased by the Leonopteryx (you will see what I mean after you see the deleted scenes).

OK, I just finished watching all the unfinished deleted scenes and all that I can say is...

Those scenes are worth the cost of the set alone!!!!!

Glad I waited to get this film. Great set. The deleted scenes that were added in really make the film better. I don't think I'll ever need to watch the theatrical cut ever again.

Right.

And don't forget to check out the unfinished deleted scenes on disk two.

They will knock your socks off.

I've seen one of the unfinished deleted scenes online. James Cameron wasn't kidding when he said that the unfinished footage looked like an old video game. I thought he was kidding or didn't know what an old video games looks like. I was wrong. The unfinished stuff looks like vintage Playstation 1 graphics.

My disc 1 and 3 already have small minor scratches on them. It must be the packaging because i've never had any problems with blurays before.

BTW, did you notice that
[Show spoiler]very subtle eye twitch that Quaritch had when he let Selfridge know just who was running the show now?

Boy, how I wish that awesome scene was included in the final cut.

Selfridge- What's your name?!!!

Joe- Joe.

Selfridge- YOU'RE FIRED JOE!!!!

OK, I just watched it again and figured out what I was noticing here.

It was the focus shifting between Neytiri and Jake in which her facial details kept softening and disappearing, which explains why I thought it might have been unfinished CGI.

Going through the set more extensively now, I gotta say, I liked Avatar, but now I really like it. The deleted scenes and extras are great, and the collector's edition cut really does add a lot to the film. Awesome set. On another note, I can't figure out why this thread didn't get one of those movie specific names. I mean really, no Na'vi-thread? No Unobtain-a-thread? Missed opportunities.
