So that means that it isnt what you thought? I actually just watched all the deleted scenes, which the name scene makes another appearance (finished) and I still stand by my previous claim that its perfect. I really doubt it's my lack of ability to catch minor issues like that because I've seen a lot of CGI, but if there is an issue with your's and that other guy's I'd say that some copies may have bugs.

I finished my CE - no issues.

I know it's a straightforward plot. But it's the EXECUTION that I love so much.

That's why I really enjoy this movie.

I didn't even realize it was Leona Lewis on the end sountrack! I knew her voice sounded familiar (coming from having played FF13 recently) - and alas, I was right.

But in any case, this might be one of the few movies I actually go through the special features.

The reason I consider this a good movie over the other CGI-bleh I've seen recently (Alice in Wonderland, Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia) - is that, I don't know, I get drawn into this so much more. And watching the special features, I see that they actually went and made a lot of the things I considered CGI, such as the machines. I was really impressed.

Gotta spend money to make money, champ! And James Cameron really came through. It'll never go down as a famous movie for its plot (Pocahontas? Ferngully?) - but...come on! We're all going to be talking about this one for a while.

Just got done watching the Extended Version. It's pretty much the best version of the film. Loved the new opening, and the mentions of Neytiri's sister and the school.

I still wish that most the remaining deleted scenes were finished up and we would get a near 4 hour cut. More Avatar is good Avatar. :P

It's all good though. One thing that was kinda bugging me is that at the end of one of the online featurettes, there was a shot of Jake doing a crazy flip over Quaritch's knife during the final fight. This shot was never reinstated into any version of the film. I found it wierd. Maybe Cameron thought the flip was too crazy LOL.

It's at 7:29 in the video.

I particularly like the deleted scene where Grace explains to Jake that his avatar life requires millions of dollars of machinery to sustain and that he could never truly be with her. The hopeless look on Jake's face as he realized the truth in her statement seemed to stop time for him. It touches on how love can overpower logic in a person's mind at times.

Great scene.

Default "AVATAR (Ext. Cut)" Producer Jon Landau on why no 7.1 Audio (& other issues)

SOURCE

What was the decision to not go with 7.1 channels of audio for the Avatar Blu-ray?

Jon: How many homes really have it? (laughs) I think that right now the other sound that people are used to…we uh, just didn't feel the need to do it. Often time's people do things without really thinking about what the need is or the absolute benefit for the consumer and we want to focus our attention and give the consumer something they could easily see across a wide range of people.

================================================== =====

Well, as someone who DOES have a 7.1 (7.2 actually) System, I would have LOVED to hear this Extended Cut with 2 extra channels. It sounds Incredible enough as is, yes, but talk about a Serious factor...

Don't forget Landau and Cameron also seem to think that everybody wants a 3D TV. I don't think they know what the home consumer wants.

Actually not a good point, because I'm sure they dont expect people who aren't fans to even care about a third release. So how could they think "everybody" wants a 3D TV?

Watching Disc 2 now, loved the unfinished scenes, probably should watch some of the finished ones sooner or later.

It is said that there's BD-Live portal on disc 3, but I can't find it anywhere in the menu. There are only Deconstruction, Featurette, and Avatar Archive. Does anyone have the same problem with me?

Did you check the basics? Internet connection to your BD player with latest firmware installed?

I'm quoting them - don't ask me how they think what they think, but that's what they said during their one hour video posted here on the site.

Oh well, I'm not interested. So, they're wrong. I'm happy with my 2D Collectors Edition.

[Show spoiler]Instead of Wainfleet dying by getting crushed by the Hammerhead, there is an alternate version where Neytiri jumps on the Thenator, chases down Wainfleet in his amp-suit, breaks the glass canopy open, and then she makes the Thenator grab his body in his jaws.

Think Jurassic Park after the T-rex knocked the bathroom down....

Aye. Part from Pixar/Dreamworks films and Avatar, I see no interesting 3D prospects. *shrugs*
