Play The Phantom Menace on PlayStation 1.

Play Revenge Of The Sith on PlayStation 2.

I can't play Attack Of The Clones since I don't have a GameBoy.

Well in the case of The Dark Knight the aspect ratio shifted. Even though the 2.35 scenes had black at the top and bottom, on a 6 story screen it still looked impressive. I imagine AOTC had bars at the top and bottom too.

I saw AOTC on IMAX and liked it... two parts especially, which are still my favorites: when Obi-wan first sees the clones and when the battle in the Arena starts looked amazing on the gigantic screen. I did notice some of the edit/cuts and didn't like them (IIRC length limitations with IMAX at the time), but didn't ruin it.

I was ambivalent about it at release, but I A-Team has been growing on me. I thought it was well done.

I'm almost positive that, at the time, all features were "full screen" and cropped. I KNOW they couldn't be over 2 hours so Clones and Apollo 13 had to be edited.

Ah yes, you're right. Just looked it up and it was presented in an edited and cropped version.

I agree. People keep deciding what is on-topic and what is off in this thread, and it's usually their preference showing more than anything else. I've stopped posting months ago in this thread because I was (for the first time ever) being moderated here as being off-topic and it seems very subjective.

If all we are to talk about is the Blu-rays themselves, we have 250 pages of off-topic posts since we know little to nothing about it.

If we aren't supposed to talk about the films, the condition of the film elements (and, like you, I don't hate the prequels or even the Special Editions at all - I simply want to make sure that the original prints that were dismantled to make the SE's are available for historical sake), then it should be closed up until such time as, oh, I dunno, they are actually dated and something other than "oh yeah complete box set, end of '11, deleted scenes, big!"

"Off topic" is a convenient excuse for, "I don't like what you are saying."

Perhaps you'd want to examine the user descriptions a bit more carefully: the ones labeled "Moderator" who said that the prequel and Lucas bashing, whining that it will be the SE versions, was off-topic?

Uh-huh.

Lovely choice of words, btw. Not flame baiting at all, are you...people can have critical discussions without "bashing" or "whining".

Actually, I wasn't discussing any of that but the state of the original film negative of Star Wars. And that's "off topic" too.

So I'd really like to know what is on topic, since this 250 page thread is kind of ridiculous at this point, and if we adhere to the "just talk about the Blu-ray release" which we have almost zero information on, then 98% of this thread is "off-topic".

Totally true. Forums are supposed to be for discussions and if the films themselves cant be discussed then there would be little reason to even visit the forums. Every thread or post would basically listing bitrates and audio codec data and thats it. Thats about as boring as watching paint dry. Imagine a thread like this: "New Star Wars blu-rays released. DTS Master Audio and great video quality". Thats it. Meh.

Unless it gets really personal or threatening - we should be allowed to banter back and forth about the film content!

There's another thread for that, in the appropriate section of the forum.

So then there is no reason for this thread to exist. Such talking about the release leads to talking about the films.

May as well close Blu-Ray.Com down, since it's only for discussion of technical specs. NO FILM DISCUSSION ALLOWED!

Hyperbole aside, you have plenty of places on the internet, OTHER THAN THIS THREAD, to complain about the SEs, prequels, and Lucas.

Considering I have never once complained about the SEs, Prequels, or Lucas... I must be fine then.

But the point is, every discussion thread on this part of the forum includes discussion of the film being release. So it's silly.

It wouldn't be silly if people didn't come onto this particular thread and discuss BS things like "Liam Neeson hated Lucas' directing" and such. Pages upon pages of prequel bashing, complaining about the Special Editions, and how George Lucas somehow destroyed "film history".

A bunch of us watched TPM on New Years Eve. Forgot how good this movie is, and also forgot how bad the transfer is. Definitely looking forward to this on Blu.

Yes, the tranfer has a distinct pink hue, and some severe edge enhancement.
