That part has got to be wrong. The torpedo didn't penetrate the shield... the Rebels flew under the shield and the torpedo clearly turns the corner. No shield would mean they would just flaw perpendicular to the exhaust port and fire straight in.
They're talking about the shaft of the Exhaust Port. Not the Trench that they were flying down.

So the torpedo did penetrate the shielded Exhaust Port shaft. If they would have fired their other weapons, it would have been absorbed or reflected.

Beyond the shield in Phantom (which I thought was some different form of shield since it looked differently than the one on the Star Destroyer) all the other shields are invisible and only effect the exterior of a ship. Why would they have them inside a ship? If they are used for imprisoning someone, why did they keep Leia in a cell and not in a ray shield? That moment just comes out of nowhere for me and just seems to be a matter of convenience for the story.

So since the "Saga Collection" is 9 discs, and the trilogy sets are only 6 total, does that mean you have to buy the whole shebang to get the extra features? That's what it seems like to me.

Already preordered btw.

And considering Star Wars fanboys knows the name of every actor, alien, and creature... there's no risk of him being forgotten. Especially when new fans are being created every day. People seem to certainly remember Sebastian Shaw, who did nothing but choke out a few lines and die.

And that's without even getting to how phoned in Harrison Ford's performance is in Return of the Jedi. The Ewoks were better actors.
Yeah, Harrison Ford was outrageously awful in ROTJ. He was terribly selfish to give such dreadful performances.

Hayden Christensen was perfect as Anakin Skywalker, especially in ROTS!

Probably my favorite performance in any movie!

I find this an interesting read:

Midichlorians are NOT overwriting the mysticism of the Force. If you know anything about 17th century philosopher Leibniz, you know he proposed the very same idea in our own history: that our mitochondrial cells contain particles that can cross the boundaries of space and time, leaping into parallel dimensions. This philosophical concept was eventually proved by our own scientific community in the 1920s, helping bring on the study of quantum physics. The idea here is that midichlorians are simply the method by which the physical bridges into the spiritual planes. In effect, the more natural ability you have to tap into that other side, the more you'll be drawn to it (i.e. - demonstrations of true psychic ability in our own world). The mere ability to tap into the mystical in no way says that the mystic realm doesn't exist at all!

It is because he was born from the force. Anakin had no father. That is what the jedi prophecy is. That is why he has the highest midichlorian (or concentrated force) count.

And to the person that said the love scenes between Leia and Han are anywhere near as bad as Ani and Padme should be exiled into oblivion. One of the pros of the movie is the well made love story in ESB. At least that is the consensus among general movie goers and critics while AotC is maligned for its love story.

Also, Beast. I know you are famous now 'round these parts but, You are wrong about Darth Maul. Darth Maul was never intended by Sidious to be a "Sith Lord" he was his apprentice (at an early stage) that showed great promise. You also need to remember that at the time of TPM the Sith were thought to be extinct, leading me to believe that there were very vew in practice of the Dark side and Sidious didn't have a lot of choice. It was at this time that more dark users came out of the woodwork. Also comparing Mauls deafeat with Anakins defeat isn't fair, Obi-Wan was a Jedi Master when he defeated Anakin, Maul was still an apprentice that thought just killed a Master and got cocky. Hans words to Luke "Don't get cocky" seem to be the downfall of certain characters in the prequels.

Whether or not the shields are visible or not probably depends on the energy and technology. The Gungan energy shields are designed to keep out all that surrounding water. So probably have a higher energy output. Plus their tech is probably just a bit different than the standard. Plus between the PT and OT there's 20+ years of technological advancement. The PT seems to focus on form over function. Like people cared more about the craft than the end product. And then after the Empire rose it got all cold and mechanical. Which relates to what happened in real life also, when everything went to mass production. The DC may use actual doors on the cells due to the power drain of the Super Laser. Plus it seems more like a mechanical monstrosity than a thing of beauty. Plus with shields, they're see-thru allowing the prisnor some sense of freedom. It still used shields in the docking bays and such.

Wasn't there supposed to be an UNALTERED cut of the 1977 film coming out on BD? Or has that been scrapped and OT will only be released with the SE cut?

Seeing Hayden Christensen in ROTJ made me puke chunks. Story-wise, I understand why Lucas would want to use him, but visually he just doesn't fit into that era of film-making AT ALL, not to mention that he's a horrific actor (he pouts... and I burst out laughing in that nightmare scene in ATOC), other than his fairly memorable performance in Life as a House.

He answered that. It will be the 2004 versions, with the possible additional edits. We don't know for sure which one.

when has Harrison Ford ever acted? - he's as wooden as Pinocchio (but not as charming) - in all his movies.

It's just that it's the exact same move. It didn't make sense to me in the film and it made less sense after III. It's not like Maul just got a saber, he obviously knew what he was doing when he tangled with two Jedi Masters (Obi-Wan became a master hours after this fight, it's not like he suddenly became better when he received the title) and actually managed to kill one of them. I never saw Maul act cocky. He acted like a trained fighter.

I don't recall Obi-Wan dangling over a bottomless pit and leaping up and over Anakin's head and cutting him in half.

And cocky may not be the right word. But he certainly was impatient. So I can buy him being smug and letting Obi-Wan have an opening.

So yes, Maul may have been trained for a long time. But the point of Maul was kinda to show the flaws of Sidious in training.

Here's my thesis on midichlorians: Lucas couldn't leave well enough alone.

Anything that attempts to explain it past one sentence is ignoring that obvious fact. It was a stupid idea then, and it's still stupid now.
