Which Obi-Wan attempts to humble him for. Anakin was overconfident, much like Sidious/Palpy in RotJ. Obi-Wan warned him off, but Anakin... in his emotional state chose to push the attack and lost his limbs for it. It couldn't be more simple.

It's a major miss because it comes across as a contrived plot device to finish a fight he had no idea how to finish - as evidenced by the fact that it's up to the fans to explain just what the hell happened and why.

Definitely in for the complete Saga. I will likely wait for a $60 price though.

Original trilogy in their original theatrical cuts, or no sale.

As happy as I am that Star Wars is finally coming to Blu Ray I have a few things to say.

1) Lucas claims would be "too expensive" to upgrade the Original/Unaltered versions for Blu Ray. To me that is the largest crock of wampa poodoo I have ever heard. His net worth is an estimate of 3.5 billion and was #61 on Forbes list of richest Americans. So, don't set there and tell me Mr. George "Howard the Duck" Lucas that you can't afford it. You would make a ton of money off the sales because most every Star Wars enthusiast will buy them day 1. It seems to be an oxymoron from George because he himself wanted to preserve the movies from black and white era before they were lost and degraded to history. He spoke in a panel about it. So, why not the original cuts of the Original Trilogy? Should those be lost to history and degraded? Let's face it, everyone wants Han to shoot first. And George, we all hope you actually FIXED the Pink lightsabers like you claimed to have done the first time but never did. You can edit in a new CG Jabba but not fix the color of a lightsaber? This never made any sense to me. Out of the 4 times these movies have been changed now you'd think they could do the simplest of things.

2) The Phantom Menace with CG Yoda. I am curious if any of this will be in this set. I have always been interested in seeing this.

3) Deleted scenes back in the movie option. I would enjoy to watch the movies with the deleted scenes edited back in. Especially the Original Trilogy scenes. More so the scenes with Luke and his friends on Tatooine. Granted, some of them are alternate versions in the Prequel Trilogy, but it would be nice to make your own choice. Much as they did with X-Men when it was released on DVD. With Blu Ray this is easily made possible.

On a personal note. Star Wars changed my life when I saw it in 1977 a total of 10 times. When I heard that music and saw that art I knew that was what I wanted to do with my life, and so I have. There was nothing like that back then, NOTHING, and I miss the cinema of those times because cinema has fallen to toiletry these days. Hollywood has become a cash hungry regurgitation machine. In September I will be buying the Complete Saga and having myself a Star Wars marathon.

It's right there on film. It doesn't require that much thought to figure it out.

End of story.
If any of you have noticed... In RotJ, Luke had the higher ground on Vader when he was standing on the raised walkway. Instead going after Luke, Vader threw the lightsaber at him, as though he'd learned that lesson. I think GL did this on purpose.

Who says all of that money is liquid? And he has other projects and other things he's doing. And again, why should he waste money paying for a restoration of a version of the films he no longer recognizes as his vision. It would be like you wasting your money to buy something you don't want or appreciate. Just because the guy has done well, doesn't mean he should throw his money away to some fans who feel they're entitled.

And they'll buy them regardless, even if they're the Special Editions. So it doesn't matter.

Everyone brings that up. But that was about people other than the crieator altering films.

Everyone except the one person who's opinion metters. The one who is the creator of the films.
And the lightsabers arn't pink if your TV is adjusted correctly. They have always appeared red when I watch them.

It should be... it was completed for the Star Wars concert series, and suggested would be used on the next release.

Considering all the deleted scenes are gonna be on the bonus discs, not gonna happen. Plus it would be problematic.
Who knows if all the connecting scenes for the deleted footage was even filmed at the time of production.
Especially stuff that was cut early on or reused for the SE release. And who knows what condition they're in.

2. At least one music cue will be partially dialled out. It will probably occur during the Battle of Yavin. The French version on the same disc will present the same cue properly.

3. The colour timing will be wrong in at least a few scenes.

4. At least one beloved moment will be ruined by George's tinkering.

5. This is Fox so the set will be presented in a rubbish cardboard package that scratches the discs.

6. This is Fox so the grandeur of the closing titles will be ruined with the message "English-US-Forced" across the bottom of the screen (during those movies which include alien languages, including A New Hope)

7. All the while I'll wish the original versions had been included. Without them this set is hardly "complete".

I could go on...

Did anyone answer this question yet?:

So since the "Saga Collection" is 9 discs, and the trilogy sets are only 6 total, does that mean you have to buy the whole shebang to get the extra features? That's what it seems like to me.

Already preordered btw.

Lucas' incessant desire to tinker aside, I think the technical reason (I read this somewhere) is that there is no master print. It was lost or destroyed. The SE versions were cobbled together from various prints.

And before people get all uppity on me I read this in a lengthy article posted on Arstechnica I believe.

Edit: Here's the article.... http://arstechnica.com/media/news/20...star-wars.ars/

Well, then why would you not agree w/ me on Empire because of what Lucas did in the SE of Star Wars (which I too feel is awful)? You do realise that when it comes to liking things that it's not an all or nothing proposition. Case in point, I love ep. I, like ep. III, but HATE ep. II. Another example would be the SE of Star Wars. Han shooting first, Jabba, and Fett were stupid IMO, but the scene w/ Biggs and Luke in the hanger pre-Yavin battle is great (and unintentionally funny).

Well I finally got through all the pages since the news and before even finishing that I pre-ordered the Complete Saga set. $90 is a steal especially when compared to Alien Anthology. This is gonna be BIG and I can't wait. And I mean bigger than Beast's new-found fame. I love the OT and don't mind the prequels and 3 discs of extras makes the big set a no-brainer. September cannot come soon enough. 2 things though. We still don't know exactly what version of the OT we're getting right? And the cover, which I've actually come to like just for the class that the simplicity allows, is only a mock-up? And another thing. Anyone else confused by the prequel set doing better than the OT and Complete Saga set on Amazon so far?

On another note, while tempted to quote a few of the hundreds of posts I went through before this one, I felt this was the one that definitely bared repeating.

Hey man, whatever makes you feel better about it. Because it's NOT on film, but in your head.

A line such as "Like Darth Maul had the high ground?" would have been on film.
