And while he'd likely be in his E1 outfit, I wouldn't mind if he had his E2 Senator Robes, the one form Padme's Apartment.

I'd go for that! Although, his EP1 costume would be my first choice.

Never! The OOT would look absolutely hideous in 3-D.

All those matte lines alone would be terribly off-putting.

I do not have the foggiest idea how 3D conversion works, so I cannot comment on that, but at least there is some hope.

This is true. If movies were based solely on the amount of different models, costume designs, and CGI that can be forced into two hour movies, they would have cleaned out every awards ceremony there is.

I'm sure that Lucas will pull off the 3D versions well and not put out sub-par products. If there's one thing he's good for, it's making a visually stunning movie. I'd say the only parts that will be 3D will be the fights/battles, and worst case they will replace the parts that look especially bad with CGI. Some may see this as a bad thing, but honestly I don't like 3D anyway, so why not.

I am actually thinking of doing the same thing.

I love my stereo setup, but two surround speakers would be killer for these movies.

I won't get a subwoofer though, as my neighbours are being tortured enough.

Mate, a 5.1 set-up for this movies = heaven!

I'd definately recommend getting it, not just for these movies but for your existing BRs & dvds. A very worthy investment.

In fact, if you have space I'd suggest going for the 7.1 (especially if you have disney blus), but just for better future proofing.

(I have a 5.1 set-up, but if had the proper space I would have gone for the 7.1).

I apologize if this has been addressed already but is there any indication as to whether they are going to further tinker with the series for this release as far as changes/improvements? I know on the last DVD release there were some small issues such as the color timing on the light sabers (Vader's saber in ESB and ROTJ looked pink). I was actually hoping they would fix it to where the sabers looked the same in all 6 movies.

If George Lucas ends up including the O-OT I wonder how many people who pulled an Anakin around here, i.e. *****ed and moaned, will still hate on Mr. Lucas. Of course, George Lucas can't do anything right so I am sure these fans will just find something else to complain about. Some people simply enjoy playing the role of the victim.

Is there a chance that by including the original version on the disc, that it could reduce the quality, or could they possibly put the originals on the 3 bonus discs?

There's no word yet. The only change that seems pretty likely is Yoda being replaced with CG in The Phantom Menace (definitely not in TESB or ROTJ though), though there's no official word on that. I think we're all hoping the color timing gets fixed with this release.

One thing I have noticed, that I really hope they fix, is the little "cut out" boxes that are around the TIE fighters in ANH. Sometimes they're green backgrounds with little clickety looking cut-outs, and sometimes, they are brown/gray backgrounds that blot out the stars behind them momentarily. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

They pretty much fixed the mattes as well as they could for the 2004 versions.

Unless all of the model shots are replaced with CGI shots, which would just piss off more people, some evidence of the mattes around the ships will likely always be present. Though they are certainly less prominant now in the current versions of the films. At least the Snowspeeder cockpits are no longer transparent. That was the one that bugged me the most, and was harder to hide due to the backgrounds at the time of filming.

Yeah, that bugged me too, but not as much as the editing of the TIE fighters in E.4.

http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/37...iv/index2.html quote from the site : Interestingly, it seems that Lowry Digital, the firm who restored the films for the previous DVD release are once again restoring the trilogy with a little more time up their sleeve than the 3 months they had to previously work within. Interestingly, Chairman John Lowry allegedly made comments that implied that they were also restoring the original cuts of the film too, but no announcements in regards to content have been confirmed. I guess this time next year we will know for sure...

Well, they won't be on this set... cause they won't fit and can't be seemless branched.

But Lucas himself made comments about eventually restoring what he referred to as "The Classic Versions".

But they're gonna take a backseat to his final preferred cuts for the time being.
