If the footage from the Star Wars concert is any indication, the E1 Yoda is indeed no longer a puppet.

I was about to say the same until I got to your post

For Star Wars In Concert, Yoda is in CGI for all the scenes that you saw him in The Phantom Menace. If I recall in the little documentary I saw about this concert it was done right before the concert tour started. So expect to see a new Yoda in the Blu-ray for Phantom Menace.

How can the OT be described as Guerilla Filmmaking (at it's finest)?
We have slightly different interprerations of that style of filmmaking but I consider the effects work something that was guerilla style but I guess I was slightly out in the feeling I was trying to convey. I sort of equate guerilla style as a method of breakneck speed etc and not the law bending one it is probably better known for. My mistake moving on lol....

I guess faster, more intense covers it....

It's been a long time since I've seen the Phantom Menace, but is there a reason why Yoda is going CGI in this release? Was the puppetry done poorly?

Actually, that doesn't make sense. 70mm has 2.92x the area of a 35mm anamorphic print and 4.5x the area of a 35mm 1.85:1 spherical print, so you'd really want 70mm scanned at 12K to 18K to achieve the same quality.

A 35mm anamorphic print has a geometry of .825"x.690" (.569 sq in) (in projection it's "expanded" to the equivalent of 1.65"x.690"=2.39:1, but that's not relevant to this discussion.)

A 35mm 1.85 spherical print has a geometry of .925"x.448" (.370 sq inches)

A 70mm spherical print has a geometry of 1.912"x.870" (1.663 square inches).

(There were a very few films made in Ultra-Panavision: the 70mm print was given a 1.25 squeeze, so it's the equivalent of 2.75:1, but that's also not relevant to this discussion.)

Look weird indeed does he.... It's by no means a bad puppet it just doesn't look like TESB Yoda or the CGI Yoda or a Yoda action figure for that matter.

He makes a mean cocktail though....

Alright! And we have a date. I hoped it would be early September but I figured a date like this would be more likely. And now the countdown...

We have never seen evidence that they don't, have seen Obi-Wan order drinks in the PT and besides Yoda is a Master.

Could they not just CGI Jar Jar out and C3PO in? Maybe a little effects work and I can get through the prequels without rolling my eyes...

Why get rid of such a great and vital character such as Jar Jar, just over some jaded adults?

Well, Jawa Juice is alcoholic. So we know that Obi-Wan does imbibe alchohol.
Quote:
Ardees was a sharp, bitter alcoholic beverage made by the Ardees Beverage Company. It was nicknamed Jawa juice by many who consumed it.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was offered a cup of Jawa juice by WA-7 while at Dex's Diner investigating the origin of a mysterious saberdart. The traditional recipe was made from bantha hide and fermented grains, but there were many different forms, including non-alcoholic versions, served in cantinas around the galaxy.

Jawa juice was also served at Bantha Traxx on Lianna.
And with Anakin as his Padawan, can you really blame him? Guy probably needed a good stiff drink every so often.

It doesn't say in the movie, so I won't go along with it.

I object too.

The Jedi obviously don't drink, don't smoke, and they are Vegetarians.
