I love MOVIES! i don't care what kind of disc its on, as long as it looks good on my TV.
I think most of us can agree brand loyalty isn't at issue. But then, nor is simply "loving movies" -- you can "love movies" on ordinary DVD or VHS. The question is how you want to experience those movies you love: with mediocre VC-1 video and iPod-quality audio, or (as with the best BDs) high-bitrate AVC encodes and beauteous lossless sound? Which standard of quality do you want to encourage?

Some people can't tell the difference on their existing hardware; others can't tell the difference at all. At any rate, many (perhaps most) people on this forum don't merely "love movies"; they love movies at the best quality technologically possible at present. That's why they're into hi-def to begin with.

It's one thing to tolerate certain HD-DVD ports onto Blu on the ground that those are the best available versions. It's another actively to support the poor quality high def represented by HD-DVD.

I wonder if that is quietly happening right now with some of the fan boys.
Well, I went format neutral.
Bought an A3 at Best Buy. $200 for the A3 with 5 free mail in offer, plus two movies in the box plus I got to pick two at the store! I couldn't believe it. I stewed about it for a long time before I actualy bought the player. Then the BB clerk says I get to go pick out two titles off the shelf. That sealed it. I watched Trasformers last night, then Bourne Identity. Crisis averted!!

Why doesn't Blu Ray and Sony offer deals like this??

LOL. Hysterical. BRFB waited a whole 24 hours after first post to let us know he went and bought into HD-DVD---and decided to let everyone know in a thread about ending the format war. As if the "E" in "BlueRayFanBoy" wasn't enough of a tell...

And every time someone buys a dud player or a dud disc, they are voting with their dollars to support mediocrity and reward Toshiba for foisting an inferior format on the public.

I own both formats, but my support is 100% behind blu. no way I will support inferior format. Although I am dual, I am blu 100%.

HD-DVD is inferior thus I can't support it knowing that fact. I choose Blu-ray because it's what I wanted and no Transformers movie is going to make me change my mind. HD-DVD has NO movies on it (I looked through all of Amazon and did not care for any of them). The other reason I feel this way is well, I hate Microsoft. I don't mean lightly either, I HATE them the way most hate Sony. They know HD-DVD is worthless and are only supporting it because Sony isn't and by supporting I mean throwing money into the toilet just to keep it afloat. It's a disgusting practice and their ignorance and arrogance frustrate me. The 11 360's I had didn't help anything either

This isn't about "brand loyalty" folks. None of us are getting paid for the purchases we make. HOWEVER. By supporting both brands you are single handedly prolonging this war. The market can only support one format, and that format will not be chosen as long as you continue to spend recklessly.

Instead you make glutenous decisions claiming you HAVE to have every single movie you want. If you would practice a little patience then a movie like "Batman Begins" will be release on Blu Ray once Warner sees the continued dominance of the brand.

I you LOVE the releases on HD DVD so much...then go support that brand exclusivley and leave the Blu Rays to us. Just know that those discs you covet so greatly will turn out to be nothing more than expensive drink coasters.
he is a "troll"...no doubt about it...

Angry No Way!

When I first decided to buy a High Def DVD player, the first type I thought of was Blu-Ray. I have not changed my mind since. Too bad you didn't have any will power. All they had to do was lower their prices to get you to turn to the dark side. Well, they say everyone has a price, now we know yours.

You own both, but are 100% Blue? Yeah right! Sounds like another fence-sitter! What got you: Transformers or Bourne?

If you followed the AVS Neilson's discussion threads (now extinct) you would realize that many HD DVD supporters don't quite understand percentages.

I think at this point, anyone buying into HD DVD is not thinking clearly and only sees the price tag. Which is all that Toshiba wants, they want to confuse the consumer and tempt them with low prices to keep their failing format alive. Everything points to Blu-Ray winning next year. Even if WB doesn't go Blu-Ray exclusive and stays nuetral, Blu-Ray will probably still win. Plus, look at the releases for HD DVD next year. They have basically nothing after January. I think there's one or two films being released exclusively after Jan. Seriously, anyone who buys both formats at this point will just help create a stalemate and kill off both Blu-Ray and HD DVD, which is ultimately what Microsoft wants anyway (which I've been saying for a long time).

I think you have the wrong forum actually...

www.formatneutral.com/hddvdbluray

they also have

www.formatneutral.com/xbox360ps3

wonderful sites if you own both competing formats in any kind of technological war...

why win or lose when you can own both and waste money regardless?...SOUNDS GOOD TO ME!

17 out of 19 my HD-DVD movies were either purchased used from wherever, or were free. I'll buy another HD-DVD new again.
