I not only spent the full retail price back in Nov 17, 2006 I also spent 3 days of my life camping out. I don't regret this purchase whatsoever.

I camped out for the PS3 in front of Target's main HQ in NYC. It was in Brooklyn.

Don't feel ripped.

I bought my 1st PS3 @ launch [Nov. 2006] and got ZERO / NOTHING / NADA free.....but I still love it.

I bought my 2nd PS3 [installed in Master Bed Room] Summer 2007 & got 10 free movies: 5 in-store / 5 in mail

I bought my 3rd PS3 [Installed in my son's play-room] on Nov. 24, 2007 [the day after Black Friday / secret sale] @ WalMart and got a whopping 15 free movies: 10 in-store / 5 in mail

We are Blu in every room with an HDTV!!!!

Buy more PS3s and average down your total cost per BD player while growing your BD movie collection.

I got 25 free movies buying 3 PS3s and another 3 free movies using the Buy 2 Get 1 Free Rebate Offer.

That's like $770 discounted from a $1600 investment. Based on $27.50 per 28 BD titles and paying $599 + $499 + $499 for my 3 PS3s.

Brings my average cost per PS3 to $276.66

You have to spend money to make money.

I feel the same way. Also, if I would have waited, I wouldn't have gotten the PS3 60 gb with the ability to play PS2 games. I have a quite few PS2 games and with the up-conversion and my set-up, they are quite playable. Not sorry at all for paying full pop

hmm.

i bought my 60 a month or so ago, and havent even PLACED my order for my 5 free blu ray dvds. why? well, considering i bought almost all of my blu dvds already, why bother? the prices of the media right now is dropping so often, i dont really want to anticipate these movies anymore. amazon, frys, and even bb has a good sale from time to time, and that alone would justify your purchase.

its also about being proud you bought that way back then, KNOWING the market and anticipated what would happen. now THATS something to be proud of chief.

SERIOUSLY!!!
I MEAN- SERIOUSLY!!

YOU feel ripped off, how about taking some consideration for people in the UK like me who paid 2x as much as you, HELL, i was prepared to pay it though, SURE it would have been nice to get it a £349 60GB PS3 with 2 games & blu-rays but it was the premium price i paid & WAS WILLING to PAY

No, but seriously, be glad you got a 60 gig and you were an early adopter. If it wasn't for earlier adopters of the PS3 this war would be a whole new ball game.

I do not feel "ripped" btw, I got 60gb at launch.. happy with purchase
I bought my ps3 right after launch and I feel it is worth way more than I paid for it, I just think it is sad that it takes 5 free movies and a few price drops for other people to recognize how good this machine is and make an investment.
price drops and incentives happen with electronics.
You can just be proud of yourself that you were one of the few smart people to make a wise investment from the start.

I agree with you 100%. I was forced to buy 2 crappy games in order to pre-order my system and I haven't regretted it one bit. That totalled almost $900 with taxes factored in. Ripped off? I don't feel anything of the sort. I just realize that I was willing to pay a premium to be an early adopter. Besides, free stuff is always just a bonus offer that ties into timing. I never "wait" for deals. If I want something and it happens to have a "deal" at the time that I'm ready to purchase, they yippie. Otherwise, I just blame myself for bad timing. I can't blame anyone else.

I bought my 60 gig PS3 at the end of June for the normal $599. Not only did the price drop by $100 a couple weeks later I also was not eligable for the 5 free movie offer by a week! I tried to take it back to Target where I bought it and they would not let me return it for the lower price because it was opened. More then the money I would have looooved the 5 free movies. Has anyone tried calling Sony to see if they would honor such a close buying date for the movies?
That's the price you pay for being an early adapter. The people who stood in line a year ago (Many stood 5-6 days in line!!!) paid $800 and got squat. A year from now I am sure the PS3 will be even cheaper and probably have better incentives. Same thing happened to the people who bought HDTV's a year ago or people who bought iphones 6 months ago.

Solution: never buy anything because the best deal is the one tomorrow.

I personally don't think anyone should feel ripped off about buying a PS3 ever.

I say $600.00 is a wonderful bargain to be able to act as a Media Hub, HD Movie Player, HD gaming player, etc, etc, etc. Add all of it's features together with the ability of being future proof with Firmware Updates, I just don't see where Sony didn't cover all of the bases. Think of how much has been added to this system since it has been released!

Be happy you own one of the best electronical pieces of equipment available today!

Hell no I don't feel ripped off. I got my PS3 in June, and I haven't gone more than three days without using it for gaming or watching movies. Worth every penny.

Bravo, said perfectly

If you brought when you did, you were happy to pay the money knowing a price drop was coming but didn't know when, i can understand you feeling, "oh boy, if only i waited a few weeks", well, things like that happen

If you feel that bad about that, i'd like to know if like me when you carefully picked all the no's for the lottery ticket you wanted to get & then had your mum change all your carefully picked no's because your mum thinks & i qoute "those aren't gonna come out" & not have all my no's on the ticket at all or simply not buy me another ticket for one measy £1 & then stand in front of the TV when the lottery is on, SEE ALL MY NO'S COME OUT, not have one other person win that day £7.5 MILLION or about $15 MILLION

I WAS 7, still to this days it churns in my stomach knowing i missed out on that but we get on as best we can & hope for the best

I think you either A) need to get out more or B) get a new girlfriend
Cause that's just wrong
