Agreed! But, then I take the rose-coloured glasses off and disagree.

I started watching Batman the other night and the scene at the Wayne Benefit didn't seem to have any music in at all. It was like party at my house "18:45 chaps time to turn in, thanks for coming." Either my surround system is set up wrong but you could hear a pin drop during that Batman party.

The music to a Star Wars film should blow you away. The sounds effects didn't sound right on RotS either, when they have the space battle in the beginning the Jedi fighters fly past/through two or three exploding ships you expect your face to be blown off with bass like it was with the seismic charges in AotC.

Anyone bet Jeffrey Katzenberg will say Star Trek as we know it is down to him?

Sign me up for The Abyss Blu-ray though. Stupid 4:3 letterbox DVD....

I agree! ROTS has the second best sound of the saga (TPM and AOTC are tied for first) but Rydstrom was definitely missed.

My biggest wish for the prequels is that John Williams goes back and composes a complete score for Attack of the Clones, though that will probably never happen. Nothing takes me out of Episode II more than that mess that passes for a film score. But the sound effect of the seismic charges are cool.
What are you talking about? John Williams did compose a complete score for Episode II, but Lucas decided to edit/butcher it completely, move it around and even lift some pieces from Episode I. Sure, pieces of music were moved around, truncated or re-written even for the original trilogy, but somehow it got really bad during the prequels.

If he did do a complete score for Episode II, I would LOVE to hear it! It has always been my understanding from a variety of sources that John Williams wasn't given the time to score the entire film since they were still struggling with reshoots, effects, and editing just to meet the release date. A lot of the music you hear in Clones are temp tracks courtesy of Ben Burtt. If a complete score for Clones does exist, I sincerely hope it is reinstated back in the film.

Phantom Menace is the best in terms of sheer original music for the prequels, but Attack of the Clones is embarrassingly bad.

You are correct about that. Williams never got to score a finished cut of the film. He was scoring in the dark pretty much the whole time. He couldn't get a feel for the whole film.

I actually prefer Sith's mix to the constant sonic assault of its predecessors. Clones in particular is so ridiculously bassy I kinda get tired of it. Sith is more controlled, so when the bass does hit (there's still plenty there) it has more of an impact.

This is another strange little thing only a nerd could want: I hope that the orange-ish lettering for the crawls on Phantom Menace and Clones gets changed to the proper yellow.

From the sound of it, neither could Lucas.

I agree about the bass. In theaters I remember the sonic bombs Jango releases in the asteroid field rattled the theater walls it was insane. The one thing I did like about AOTC mix, though, was the bass on the lightsabers when they are moved around. In ROTS they didn't have the same presence in the sound field as they did in AOTC. In AOTC you could feel them in LFE when they were ignited and swung around, but in ROTS they were far less noticeable.

Thatīs what I hope for! Star Wars is not the original Trilogy; Star Wars is the six part saga... My hope is that Lucas stays on his course and true to his vision and releases the movies in a finished form with perfected visuals. I really hope he does not release the theatrical cuts of each of the films again... Sorry, but thats my opinion.

Itīd be a letdown for me if he gave in to the fanboy wishes instead of finishing what he started.

You know, it doesn't have to be one or the other. This Lucas fellow seems like a pretty creative guy. If he put his mind to it I'll bet he could come up with a way to release multiple cuts of the same films.

Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson have all managed to pull it off.
