I think whoever posted the video did their own editing to it. They just made it red since he is supposed to be evil at that point. It's kind of neat from a fan-made perspective.

Watching this and seeing some of their stupid/flashy moves (Anakin doing pirouettes and having the saber behind him, etc) really makes me kind of irritated with how showy the prequel saber fights were. The Clone Wars series has it much better, where the saber fights are actually for a reason, and the opponents are trying to kill each other instead of trying to look cool.
I do agree with this regarding the PT lightsaber battles.

While there were many positives to them, they were often too "showy" and it often looked TOO rehearsed, and not enough like spontaneous reactions to the moves that the opponent was making.

And heck, while he was visually and conceptually a cool character, Darth Maul served essentially no purpose in Episode I other than as an excuse for there to be a lightsaber battle.

He was the whole point to the movie, his presence alerted the Jedi that the Sith were back and were going to have to be dealt with. He also killed a Jedi Master and almost killed his Padawan. I don't like Maul either but he was one of the most important characters in the PT.

Whoops, sorry about that. Aurra Sing is watching over Anakin during the pod race.

I agree with you. The lightsaber battles were waaaaay too rehearsed. Lots of flashy showy 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' moves that were not at all realistic. I think the only realistic battle was between Mace with the Three Stooges vs Sidious. Even though Sideous kills the others too quickly, it wasn't too too flashy. But for the PT, I never got the impression that anyone was trying to actually kill the other person. It looks more like they were just trying to make things look flashy and pretty.

You GET the impression in Empire that Vader is making every attempt to kill Luke (goes 'head hunting' just as he attacks and tosses Luke out that window). I didn't really see anything like that at all in the PT.

Well, I don't hate him... I hate how he was utilized. You are right about it alerting the Jedi about the Sith, so in that sense he served a purpose.

But he was a character that many people (myself included) were excited about going into the movie based on the trailers, etc, and then his part in the movie is small in the grand scheme of things.

This thread is for the discussion of Star Wars in regards to the Blu-ray release. Since the release remains "Unseen" that encompasses a lot of different things, but "What's your favorite poster" or "I found a good Star Wars site" don't have anything to do with the upcoming Blu-ray release, and there are appropriate places for that sort of thing.

So are all of the posts about stuff that does not have to do with the blu-ray releases like talking about the godfather and, different directors but that's okay and, posting photos that have nothing whatsoever to do with the star wars blu-rays but that's okay i see what is going on and that is fine.

1) I wasn't posting specifically to you.

2) Discussing The Godfather etc... is OFF TOPIC, and no.. is shouldn't go on here.

3) The world doesn't revolve around you..... quit playing the victim... it's cumbersome.

Yeah, that's definitely the weakest of the OT, but I still think it still has a lot going for it that Ep. I and II lack. I think of VI as sort of a taste of things to come with the prequels. As in-- remember those lame bits from Jedi, like annoying creatures, and silly Ewoks? Sometimes stiff acting bits? Now imagine THAT'S THE WHOLE MOVIE. That is what I think of Episode I and II.

imo, I think the only reason people like ESB so much is because of that one line, "No, I am your father." If that line wasn't in there, but in ROTJ instead, I think ESB would be a huge flop. Besides the Hoth battle, half of the film consists of Luke on slow moving Dagobah and Han and Leia hiding in an asteroid, before the final act in Bespin.

So ROTJ has always been my favorite. But then I was in Jr. High when I first saw it.

ESB has more going for it than that one line: Luke's first duel, introduction of Yoda, Jedi training, we learn more about the Force, Luke resists temptation to join the Dark Side for the first time, Vader finds out Luke is his son, We see the Emperor for the first time, "I love you," "I know", introduction of Lando and Boba, etc.

And as far as writing, acting, pacing, etc. goes ESB is the best of the saga.

Boba was introduced in A New Hope, you may have missed it. Any version of Ep. IV A New Hope which does not include Boba Fett was imagined by you and a few billion people.

The Empire Strikes Back was a pretty good movie and remains one of the greatest sequels in the history of cinema....

Boba Fett was in the original version of Star Wars (Ep. IV A New Hope)? I thought he was digitally added by ILM for the special edition?

Jabba the Hutt was digitally added over a large British actor in a fur coat. Boba was in the background lurking. Which begs the question why didn't he go and get Solo himself? Maybe it was his day off? Is that Greedo's brother on the left? He should be pissed.... or pleased the worst shot in the family's dead.

I'm surprised ANH Boba didn't accidentally step in "icky goo" in another lame attempt to connect the trilogies.

Or maybe they're saving that for the new Yoda in ESB, "Poop, it seems I have stepped in, hm?"

I'm sure Lucasfilm is coming up with plenty of new hilarious moments for the newest versions.

He only scene in ANH that he is in that I am aware of was the Jabba scene added in the special edition (and he was added into that scene... he wasn't part of the original footage as far as I know). He does not appear anywhere in ANH aside from that.

Technically his first appearance (all be it in cartoon form) was in the animated segment from the Holiday Special. He didn't really appear again until ESB.

Last time I saw the movies Luke didnīt marry anyone! And frankly... I could not imagine something more ridiculous. Itīs safe to say that the expended universe can not be taken seriously!

From Wikipedia. Boba Fett first appeared at the September 24, 1978, San Anselmo Country Fair parade.

Which makes him seem less cool.

From Wikipedia. His brief appearance in the Special Edition of A New Hope was performed by Industrial Light & Magic creature animator Mark Austin.

Also less cool. It would also help if I actually read the posts entirely before answering....
