There is difference between action scenes where they hero's don't get shot but are afraid and in danger and the ones in the PT where the Jedi are so unbeatable (and know that) that they have fun and act cool while slicing these toy droids.

If it were the same in the OT than Luke would dodge all the shots with the the Lightsaber and run to them and sly every last one of them in pieces without any problem.

Man that would have been boring...

Originally, Lucas/Kirschner had a few scenes laid out on Dagobah for Empire that included a LOT of Jedi training. Namely that were cut out for time - was Luke training with the Lightsaber against 3 remotes like seen in Hope on the Falcon. There were 2 or 3 shots cut of Luke training against those 3 remotes and Yoda would throw sticks and rocks at him randomly for him to block and slice.

Also, I believe the timeline is "days" on Dagobah, possibly a week or so. One Expanded Universe storyline I think once quoted it as months (don't quote me on that time). It can make sense because of space travel. Yes, Han and Co. were on the freaking stupid asteroid for maybe an hour or two max? But if you consider that their trip to Bespin could have taken days, weeks, or even months.

Realistically it makes sense if you just use the space travel excuse.

Right, he's not letting them be presented or preserved in the new format for future generations to enjoy, which in a way does constitute him suppressing them.

He doesn't have to throw them into a bond fire, because he knows that they will deteriorate over time and be unwatchable. And as I already said before, who the hell want's to watch VHS and laserdisc in this day and age? All classic films should be preserved, restored and presented in the highest quality possible for everybody to enjoy, which is one of the best things about blu ray. Seriously, how many more people are going to use the whole "well, they're still there on VHS and laserdisc" argument?
They will use the old "VHS & Laserdisc argument" as you say as long as everyone keep saying he is changing history. The originals are preserve by the Library of Congress. They are not being destroyed. The original movie will be preserve, what make's you mad is the fact that he won't release them in the new Blu-ray format. I am not arguing with the fact that it's right for him to do so, I am only arguing the facts you are presenting. This "he is changing history" is not making sense when the original prints are in fact being preserve by a very safe source. These original version will always be around long after me, you and everyone else is dust in the ground.

The rest is copyrights and release rights. He as the right to release his movies in the form that he want's them. Sorry if this make's you mad but it's still the truth. The movies belong to him, he made them, he use his money to make them and he release them in theaters. The fact that me and you paied a lot of our money to see them does not make us owners of these movies, they belong to him. Now your rights as a customer is to not buy what he is offering you, that I am with you. If you hate the special edition (I don't understand exactly why you would) but you have every right to dislike them, do not buy them. If enough people do not buy them the way he want's to release them, that might make him see the error of his ways, he is a business man afterall. The trouble is, you are out of luck, cause the reality is, they will sell and in big numbers. First by fans like me (who know very well there was once a different version of them) but do not mind the special editions, in fact I enjoy them. Second by millions of other not as crazy fans who just don't care or don't even know the difference. Me and you and a lot of other people here know this difference but for millions of other people, they are just movies, plain in simple and if they were to read our comments here would be going They would say "what a bunch of losers arguing like this over movies" because for them they are just that, movies. They don't have the passion about them like we do here. They don't care who shot first, what color was the lightsaber in 1977 and what scene was where at what time. The reality is these buyers out number us 10 to 1 and they will buy these sets of Star Wars in great numbers. That is the reality.

I at least applaud you for making the arguement based on ownership and not the abstract concept of artistic rights. From a legal standpoint, it's the ownership of the movies that gives him the right to do this (for better or worse). More often than not, the filmmaker/director/"artist" do not actually own the movie... the studio does. Only in cases where the actual "artist" owns the movie or has some kind of legal contractual agreement with the studio that allows him/her to dictate how, when, and/or in what form their movies are released/re-released are the times when the artist ACTUALLY has the genuine, legal right to dictate these things. In the real world (and not the fake, abstract 'artistic' world) legal ownership will trump 'artistic license' every time.

People who stand behind the artistic rights argument but then make comments like "buying a ticket to see the movie in the theater gave you the right to view it that one time and nothing more" are such hypocrites.

EVERYONE needs to remain on topic, which

1) Isn't Mortal Kombat
2) Isn't who is/isn't talking to who
3) IS apparently causing people to run out of points of contention, and thus making them debate themselves.

IndefiniteB....

You can't blame him for questioning why you took a 180 on your stance from just the day prior.... which you failed to address in your reply, not that you have to, but if you don't want to address it, that's fine, just don't get so defensive about it.....

Color is certainly an improvement, but its a little too bright (giving the washed out look). Either way, I am honestly looking forward to seeing TPM in blu ray. I don't think it has ever looked good on home media (or tv broadcast for that matter). Its a very bright and colorful movie (in contrast to the other two prequel films) and I think it is going look great if the transfer is done well (and we all have good reason to have a few doubts). But I am looking forward to it.

I saw this last night on T.V. and didn't know the name-change... I didn't follow the pre-release excitement when I was a kid I guess:

Beware of desks with ink blotters.

I couldn't believe that the son had not watched any of them. He didn't even get his dad's joke.

I think he'd had enough of these motherf***ing bounty hunters in this motherf***ing Galaxy.

Also he wished his original request to be a Storm Trooper had been acquiesced.
