Anyone else notice the article that Transformers and Knocked Up were the 'most pirated' titles of 2007? Surprise, surprise, I bet too that a lot of those were the HD-DVD versions of those movies. One only wonders how much more they could have made if they actually sold those movies. HD-DVD, the Look & Sound of Piracy.

Could be, could be a case of rounding too. 35.49% would round down to 35% while 35.51% would round up to 36% yet there's only a 0.02% difference. Still even if it was a full 1% move, that's with the years' highest selling exclusive in a still mediocre volume market. That's hardly an accomplishment but hey whatever floats their boat I guess. |

Exactly, lousy math is rampant these days. The delta between 61 & 39 is not 20%. Even by their lame process it's 22%, but in reality it is over 50% as you noted.

Don't be so kind to people. He has been a shill all along. Just because he sees the inevitable end and is changing his tune so as not to look like a fool doesn't make him right. If Universal flips we can buy their movies but we should still mock them every step of the way.

why if he is seeing the blu light should we mock him? we don't mock the people on this forum, who come in and say, i used to be hd dvd exclusive, but have found the wonders of blu-ray and i like it a lot. |

I always get a good laugh when Toshiba starts blathering on about the attach rate. I think that has major potential to send the exact opposite message of what they are intending. They're losing in raw numbers, then on top of that they point out that there are a ton of BD-capable devices out there for which people are apparently not yet buying movies? So not only are they losing, but the competing format has a bunch of potential customers that have zero start-up cost if they choose to start purchasing HD movies? |

In raw numbers, you are correct. For percentages, they are gaining ground every week they do better than the spread since inception.

But why do we care about so called "gained ground" in percentage terms? If a football team is 2-0 down at half time and 4-1 down at full time, we don't describe them as having pulled back in the second half just because their share of the goals has gone from 0% to 20%. We describe them as having had their ass handed to them.

1. This is only the beginning of the war (yes, HDM vs DVD numbers again...boring!) 2. Just wait until after CES (Warner going red) 3. Standalone sales still in favor of red 4. PS3 is last in gaming consoles (wth?) 5. I don't trust Dave Vaughn's numbers (or Nielsen's because it leaves out Walmart etc) 6. Blu ray is still too expensive for me. It's truly pointless to argue with them. People who want to live in an illusion that they have created will always have defense mechanisms to prevent themselves from seeing the truth. Granted, there have been HD DVD supporters who had admitted (and even congratulated *gasps*) blu winning 52 weeks, and I have a lot more respect for those people than for those red ants who are in denial of facts no matter how you present it to them. |

Because he continually spread misinformation either by design or through ignorance. You don't treat those people the same way you treat the honest people. They can find some measure of redemption but they are not the same.
