Not the same thing.

THX has its own equalization and method of spreading sound between the surround channels. It also has the Re-Eq curve.

lol. A tape? that's even worse...tapes suck. they are cheap celluloid plastic. and can barely contain enough information in them. like I said, HBO saying star wars was on HD was a true scam. it may have looked good, but it was not in HD. reason to get this set even more...

Digital is digital, doesn't matter what the medium it's on, harddisk, disc, tape, etc. 0 will always be 0 and 1 will always be 1. So HD will always be HD as long as it's digital, on tape or whatever.

It wouldn't be the same if they just announced it. Building up momentum!

This is great, and I can't wait to see the cover artwork, and the specs....

Agreed 100% percent Bluyoda. I can't wait to see the cover artwork, and the specs too as well to see what the special features will be on the 3 extra discs.

I think it would be cool, if Mr. Lucas green-lit a complete remake of the original trilogy. He's tinkered with it so much now, I wonder if it would have just been cheaper to do a total remake of the 3 films. New actors, new audio/video effects, new filmmaking tech.
Well, for one thing, I definately wouldn't want this to happen.

But more importantly, there's no way in hell that it would have been cheaper.

If I'm not mistaken, I think something around the amount of $15 million was spent on the initial changes to the movies for the 1997 release (about $10 million on Ep IV, and $2.5 mil each on V and VI). I'm not sure how much more was spent for the additional changes for the 2004 release, but I would imagine it would have been much less since there weren't as many brand new changes to that edition as there were in 1997.

Each of the prequels cost well over $100 Million EACH to make. If he were to remake the OT using today's technology, he's likely have a similar budget for each movie. So, there's no way in hell that remaking the OT would have been cheaper than simply adding in a few new effects to the existing movies.

I can't wait either, I wonder what it will be like days before release.

Im just hoping for the UOT... lol JOKES JOKING:P

Nah, Im hoping for confirmation on the slight color issues being fixed on the SE.

Lossless 7.1, deleted scenes, new Special Features.

Maybe some screen grabs to keep us busy? (wont happen)

I would be really tempted to pick this up with the exception of the Han shooting first sceen :/

I don't mind most of the added content to the New Hope, Empire, and Jedi. That single change really ruined the rerelease for me.

But this is intriguing to me

Screen caps would be the only way Lucasfilm confirms they have corrected the color issues from the previous DVD releases. To come out and say: "We fixed the color problems!" would be admiting they released a faulty product that never should have made it to store shelves. So, a screen cap of Darth Vader in Empire without a pink lightsaber or the sabers crossed in front of the Emporer's face in Jedi would be our only confirmation that they fixed the color. They won't directly come out and comment on it (even though we would all LOVE them to). As far as Luscasfilm is concerned there were no mistakes on the DVDs. Unless, of course, someone here can come up with a report that Lucas and his team actually admit the colors are off....

But I agree, a few screen caps is all I would need to know if I am spending 90 dollars or not. I am also crossing my fingers for 7.1

it has to be how young you were when you got star wars'ed. I if you were pretty young you probably never really sexualized any of the characters.

I was 15 when Return Of The Jedi came out and she was wearing that slave costume, so yeah I was able to know what is hot and what is not For some reason I just never freaked out over it. I suspect a lot of people just started to go nuts over it in the last 18 years because of Friends

That was the only time I found her sexy. But it was probably more the bikini than her.

not sure what your "documentary" was shot on, but i'll guarantee it wasn't this, which is probably what spike or hbo or whoever is airing the real hd version of star wars on.

and if not hdcam, probably hd-d5.

1080p, 24 fps.
