I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I've seen every film in it's original theatrical release. I for one have no interest in a UOT BD release. I purchased only one DVD containing a UOT film (ANH) and watched that version only once. I now own Greedo shooting first on disc (I already have it on VHS), and have zero reason to purchase any other UOT releases on disc. I just pray that Sebastian Shaw has been restored to the RotJ ending.

I am very confident!
I hope you're right. On the other hand, just because they're releasing them in 3D doesn't mean that the new masters are ready yet, guaranteeing us new transfers for the BD set.

The Phantom Menace likely has a new transfer already for two reasons. The predicted, but unconfirmed by LFL, CGI Yoda and the fact that it's supposed to be released in 3D in 2012.

LFL said they plan to release one Star Wars film per year in 3D, beginning with TPM in 2012. If they follow that schedule, that means ROTJ wouldn't be released until 2017. If that's true, there's no way to assume that the new masters have been done already for films to be released in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.

I have no interest in 3D and I think they're taking a big risk releasing a subpar film like TPM instead of the original Star Wars first. The hardcore fans of the prequels will go but those that aren't fans of the prequels and those who remember how the film was panned in '99 may skip it. If it doesn't do well, we may not see the others released.

On the other hand, we can hope you're right and that new transfers were made for this BD release.

I saw the original when it was released in 1977 during a difficult part of my life (my car was my house at the time) and it still holds a special place for me, as is does for many others. I also like the special editions, but I would love to have the original version on blu.

Sure. I love them just as much as the OT, if not more, due to the richer vision, and more complex story overall.

I love them all, but ROTJ is my lest favorite, and it's not because of the Ewoks, it's mostly because of Jabba the Hutt's palace, and all those fake looking muppets, and Harrison's horrid "acting".

I consider it not only the best Prequel film, but the best film in the series.

So is that cover a new thing or not? Some are saying it's from 1998, concept art for what ended up being the teaser poster.

Will these 3 boxsets be region FREE?!

That's really all I am interested in (considering its 20th century FOX) since I am looking to pre-order from australia. I have a region b player.

Any info/assumption/consensus so far would be so appreciated!

There is a possibility that it will be region free. That was the decision by Twentieth Century Fox.

Based only on the pre-release chatter in the Alien Anthology thread Fox can be pretty random about region locking.

Obviously I meant amazon preorder (U.S being region A) wouldn't do me any good being an australian unless its region FREE

Im with you

I don't love AotC only because The love portions were executed horribly.

TPM is awesome, Jar Jar is the only negative. TPM was doomed from the beginning, it was 30 years in the making it would never live up to 30 years of fan expectations. But to a 8 year old kid (like me at its release) it was atleast as good as RotJ.

RotS - Awesome, only negative is once again the love portions, at least until the end.

I agree with Blu Yoda in that the PT's storylines are much richer and more complex than the OT, but the in the PT the execution of their stories are not nearly as well done as the OT stories. This why the OT's simple and personal stories trump the PT for 9 out of 10 people

ALSO GO! CANUCKS GO! :P

I'd highly predict they will be region free, a big simultaneous worldwide release like this, I'd reckon the discs'll be exactly the same region free ones worldwide. I suppose the only one we can look to for precedent is the Alien Anthology, which was region free (despite the Region A logo on the back of the US set). However, we won't know for sure for a while...

No kidding

Anakin: "You are so... beautiful."
Padmé: "It's only because I'm so in love."
Anakin: "No, it's because I'm so in love with you."
...
Padmé: Hold me, like you did by the lake on Naboo; so long ago when there was nothing but our love.

Hilarious. Luckily ROTS interspersed these scenes with Ian McDiarmid chewing up his dialogue marvelously.

That was the alternative to the scene where they baked cookies and watched cartoons.

HAHAHA... If it wasn't for Yoda unleashing total hell as only Yoda can do, I might not even like AotC

ON TOPIC: I'm nowhere near a huge Star Wars fan by any means. Star Trek is a thousand million times better than Star Wars. However, it is a fairly entertaining piece of film and really do wish that the Blu-ray release would allow for enjoying Episodes IV-VI as they were originally created. As a result, I will NOT be touching anything Star Wars on Blu-ray for more than $25 for the original trilogy.
