Favorite List:

Empire
New Hope
Jedi
Sith

... and then those other two "films" about a mile down from those.

I was actually thinking I might buy the OT set, then maybe eventually Sith if they ever release the movies separately later. I really don't feel good about spending money rebuying Episode I and II. Revenge of the Sith, despite some huge glaring flaws in the storytelling, is the only prequel I thought was at least in the ball park with the OT films.

I suppose my preferred watching order would be IV, V, III, and VI.

IMO I and II should've been combined and then Episode II should have been some epic Jedi battles and us seeing Anakin and Kenobi bond and become like brothers.

But, it is what it is...so, my order:

Ep 4
Ep 5
Ep 3
Ep 6
Ep 1
Ep 2

When does that magazine detailing the Blu-Ray come out? It was talked about a while back in this thread. I'm pretty sure it was June sometime...does anyone know?

I think it was supposed to be Star Wars Insider # 126, but they changed their mind with a new cover:

Yeah it doesn't look right does it? Even his head is at an odd angle. No wonder they crushed the blacks on the 2004 DVD's. David Prowse is the only guy who looks right in Vader's outfit. No four inch lifts required....

I still think the best way to watch them is in the order they were released. However, some of the watch-orders I see here are intriguing.

I guess Im in the minority when I say that TESB is NOT my favorite nor do I think its the best SW film. To each his own. Im just glad these are finally coming out. It sort of "completes" my blu-ray journey.

If no other films ever came out on blu-ray, Id be OK with it. Just gimme my Star Wars!

Really why? Because old man Obi Wan was not flipping around like Yoda in that silly AoTC? SW and ESB had the most realistic sabre fights of all. Yoda flipping all over the place in those last two films was a joke.. and when hes done picks up his cane and hobbles off. Actually the worst fight was Anakin and Obi Wan in Sith. I had to laugh at one point when they were standing in front of each other twirling the sabers around in wasted moves.....

Indeed. "The part of 'Yoda' will be played in this film by Sonic the Hedgehog."

How about if George goes back and re-shoots these two scenes and inter-cuts them with the original? In the first one, you could have old Obi-Wan, jumping around like Yoda in Clones, as he fights Vader. In Empire, you could have more fancy fighting and again, use close-ups from the original and make a cool fighting scene more like the prequels. I'm sure it could be done, but many fans would balk, lol.

ESB
ANH
ROTJ
ROTS
PM
AOTC

I agree that the ANH and ESB lightsaber duels are great, especially the ESB one. While I do enjoy the Maul duel in TPM, nothing will come close to the duels in the original trilogy for me. I much much much prefer the slower and emotionally powerful duels to the super-choreographed lightspeed duels in the prequels.

I would have preferred that Yoda was more like Mister Miyagi. Not hyper speed, but always with the perfect move at the perfect time. Still, people were going nuts in the theater, so seems to have worked.

That said, I WOULD prefer that Lucas reedit the original lightsaber fights, particularly the ANH one. The cycles were not kind to either of them. There's no emotion in the original fight... the only decent part is Ben's glance at Luke, but the rest is just painful to watch.

TESB fight is mostly ok. Luke is supposed to be crude since he's barely trained and Vader is just toying with him until he get PO after that shoulder hit and lops his hand off.

The lightsaber fight in ESB is absolutely pitch-perfect. Do you even understand what was going on during that fight? What it was accomplishing in terms of plot and character motivation?

Why not just remake all the OT films over again? That would get this films to match...but he better start soon and not wait 16 years like last time.

The two trilogies fit together like a square peg in a round hole.

Hate to see it when you really go off topic. Nice to know someone was feeding you though. Hope you're recovering well....

The duel in Empire was pretty good and the Jedi one was excellent. The audience's reaction to Yoda's fight in AotC pretty much sums up the prequels great fun when you're watching it in the theatres but a little disapointed in the cold light of day. I was never keen on the jumping ant style of fighting with Yoda Vs. Dooku.

I wouldn't mind a bit of tweaking to the ANH fight they can stick a stuntman in Vader's suit and CGI Alec Guiness's face on a double like they did with Christopher Lee. If it was done sypathetically it would add a bit more excitement to quite a static fight. Obi-Wan did come across as a bit feeble against Vader. But I guess it was more about the baton been passed to Luke than the fight itself.
