The problem with the dual disc concept on HD-DVD is that one does not know if the person buying the movie is a DVD owner only or a HD-DVD owner. What would be funny is if Universal started selling more HD-DVD titles then the number of HD-DVD players every manufactured. They could take a hit Universal movie and only release it on dual disc HD-DVD, then they could say look we sold several million copies of this HD-DVD movie. When in reality people buying the movie were watching it on a standard DVD players.
One can now purchase a brand new first generation HD-DVD Toshiba for $323. The numbers I am seeing from one of my sources is that they have several hundred HD-DVD players in stock but completely out of stock of Sony BLU-RAY players and low on Samsung BLU-RAY players. HD-DVD players even at $323 is not selling well. |
