For upper end consumer computer monitors this might not be that far off.

Today you can get 1600 x 2560 from multiple vendors.

Once monitor resolution independence (not stuck on the default assumption of 72 ppi) become standard in both Windows and the Mac OS (which has the core pieces already in 10.5 but it's just not turned on yet) then we'll see monitors that are 4K and higher.

Personally, I'd love to have a 300 ppi 40" monitor. Then I'd have a real virtual desktop!

Thanks for the updated information. I should have taken the time to check directly with Panny rather than foolishly believe Engaget.

2160 x 4096

Makes me come up with all kinds of thoughts about possible target users. Hmmmm....

When they talk about 2K or 4K, it's horizontal pixels, not vertical lines (like 1080p or 2160p) and 2k refers to 1080p (1080 x 2048) (or 1536 x 2048 for 4:3 scans)

So 2K cinema projector = 1080 x 2048 (or less if the image is cropped a little ("overscanned") on the screen)
4k cinema projector = 2160 x 4096
etc

What would you watch on a 2160p screen? Upscaled 1080p Blu-rays. What do you prefer? To watch DVDs from your DVD player in 480 TVs, or from your upscaling PS3 into 1080p LCDs? Same principle.

When you watch a 2k Scope ratio Super-35 Digital Intermediate (image 832 x 2000) on a 35mm anamorphic print, the film out recorder upscales it to 1664 x 2000 (or 3328 x 4000 on a 4k recorder) to fit into the Scopes 2X compressed anamorphic print shape.

No joke. A kid just died locally when a 60"-70" tipped over on them.

WOW, "does it come in black" lol

Thats crazy enough considering it's a 150" but HELL the resolution is EVEN more impressive, wonder when a upscaling blu-ray players out lol

I think BD disks could handle that resolution, just need blu-ray players that accept the 1TB BD disks lol

My favorite part of the post:
You can't afford this.

I heard on the radio this morning that this thing is the size of 9 50 inch tvs combined. Incredbile.

Looks bigger than 15 inches to me? I think they meant 150"

This is starting to make less and less sense to me. If you have 150 inches of wall space to place this thing, then why not just go with projection?

This is a VERY expensive status symbol. Time better spent making technology for the consumer and prosumer.
