Damnit, I clicked on like the third link ^^ to that site thinking it was new information -- not information that was first posted days ago and discussed for the last 6 pages.

Certain smuggler??

Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, Anakin and 3PO have all had bad feelings about this as well.

You're sure right, but Han says it the best!

There's no way to retrieve this information. Apart from that I was pretty pleased with the DVD's apart from the colour problems.
I'm more worried about Vader's pink lightsaber than any crushed black issue.

Lightbulb What changes by Lucas this time around?

So what do you think will change in the 2011 release? A new Yoda (probably younger, taller, and with long hair ala Qui-Gon) for episode 1 seems plausible, but I have a feeling we're going to see a few more changes like:

- Greedo doesn't shoot, period

- new voice for Chewbacca

- Stormtrooper outfits will be tinted green/cyan

- Leia will be blonde

- blue milk will be axed in favor of Gazpacho

- Lucas having lost faith in America, Anakin will be digitally altered to resemble an alien

What do you think? Do you have any predictions of your own?

This one would be hilarious. Chewbacca now voiced by Michael Caine with a thick cockney accent, and Lucas claiming he'd always wanted Chewbacca to speak, he just didn't have the technology.

You forgot two more:

- When Luke opens up Vader's helmet in ROTJ, Ja-Ja Binks is revealed to have replaced Anakin.

- Timothy Dalton provides overdubs for C-3PO

I thought that they were filmed at 2k. Or am I mistaken on that? I know it's still less than ideal if that is the case, but it's still better than 1080p.

If they change Yoda will they change the weird female one on the council?

I wouldn't mind the Scout Troopers in Return of the Jedi to be given a cammo finish to match their bikes and their forest enviroment. Although it could be argued that Storm Troopers are such a force they don't need camoflage (unlike the rebel scum).

I thought 2K was 1080P? 1920 x 1080 = 2,073,600.

Very close. 2048 x 1080= 2,211,840. Roughly, less than a 7% difference.

No, the cameras they used for episodes 2 & 3 filmed 24p 1920 x 1080 footage only.

1080p is 1920 x 1080, 2k is 2048×1556, 4k is 4096 x 2160

I actually think that one has a chance. He seems to have softened over the past several years with regard to the classic editions and I wouldn't be totally surprised if that one change was undone.

I think it will make the extended scenes at least. The Saga gets pretty dark so having Han Solo shooting out of self-preservation isn't that much of a big deal anymore.

If i recall correctly the first camera true res was 1080 x 1440.

Also a note on 2K etc. Everybody forgets that for a hundred years there's the camera aperture size and the circumscribed projector aperture size which is whats's actually framed for and on actual film is about 4.5% smaller.

Well, in any case, there's only about 7% difference between 2K and 1080p. Maybe they were shot at 1920 by something, but it's not like they used a pocket camcorder either.

Yup. A 2K fullap scan is 2048x1556 (or thereabouts), but when it comes to extracting a 2.35 image from a Super 35 original the vertical resolution is about half that.

That's what kills me about this perpetual 'Lucas shot it in HD which SUxxOR!' crap; if people stopped drinking the anti-Lucas Kool-Aid and looked at the facts they'd be surprised. LOTR was scanned and finished at 2K, which means that whenever you're watching the 2.35 version, even in the cinema, you're seeing 2048x870 at best. The film is now locked at that resolution.

Yes, there is always the potential for scanning the ENTIRE film again and redoing EVERY SINGLE DIGITAL EFFECT at 4K, but at what point will a huge task like that ever become economically viable? It's been difficult enough to get the general public turned on to Blu-ray, let alone UltraHD 4K or whatever it'll be called. Still, if it can be done for LOTR, it can be done for the HD-shot Star Wars movies.

Don't forget, the 'pathetic' HD resolution of Attack Of The Clones was cropped and then blown up to 15-perf 70mm IMAX with excellent results. There may be a finite number of lines that can be attributed to HD video, but people vastly underestimate the inherent sharpness, cleanliness, stability and dynamic range of the image which lends itself very nicely to upscaling. In this case the digital effects can be redone ENTIRELY at the higher resolution and combined with upscaled live-action footage. Heck, they even did that on Revenge Of The Sith, which was actually finished at 2K despite what the moaners say.
