The Star Wars Saga on Blu-Ray having all 6 of the films on the ultimate home entertainment format is going to be great to have the films in HD and it won't be compressed on some cable channel. That being said though their are 2 fixes for the I want for the OT on blu-ray and it has been talked about so many times is the lightsabers and the sound mix to episode 4 a new hope. Their are others but those are the 2 big fixes I want for the blu ray box set.

Well, yeah. And all things considered I'm not sure high expectations are all that unreasonable. This isn't being pitched as some 'oh, btw' release...it's an event.

And that cuts both ways for the seller.

There really is no excuse for this not to be reference material. Lucas has every print, negative, roll of film etc and has had the last decade to sort it out... plus with his THX crew the sound should be unreal...

Well, in theory...

I don't see anything wrong with them, so I imagine I'll be content if the ones I have are used for the BDs (as long as there is an upgrade in sound and video). Then again, I'm a guy that found nothing wrong with the Gladiator BD and LOTR BDs. Perhaps my eyes suck, my system sucks, or both.

It's so new that it's still under review for approval.

ZonaDVD from Spain posted some impressions about the new Star Wars Blu-ray.

They´ve praised the HD picture quality saying Episode IV looks perfect. To prove that, they have also posted some pics including one with a shinning golden C-3P0.

ZonaDVD is not exactly the most reliable source of information. Plus, where did they get a copy so early? I call BS.

From a loose translation, it talks about some sort of media event in England on July 14, with clips of the Blu-ray being shown.

Exactly, it was about the Star Wars presentation in London, not a review or something similar.

They said the images shown on the TV´s looked really good and they´re very optimistic about the final release.

Well that is the one that was previewed earlier then at the Disney offices. So those pics posted supposedly from the event showing the Blu-Rays, are fake. The pics they posted have the TV attached to the wall, but at the preview event on the 14th the TV was on a stand, well away from any wall. Plus it even says in the text that they were not allowed to take photographs. Thats just pictures of a Tv with either the DVDs or the HDTV broadcasts playing. If it wasn't then it would confirm that the blu-rays have the same colour problems as the 2004 DVD set.

this is what that site says loosely translated:

Quote:
During the event Digital Entertainment Group Europe, held at the Disney offices in England last night of July 14th, 20th Century Fox was the media who were present clips of 30 seconds duration of the Blu-ray editions of the films Star Wars.

He was not much and because of its uniqueness, not allowed to take photographs or videos of the screen itself, but at least served to get a first impression of the quality of picture and sound you will enjoy. The first two clips were from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (Yoda and Clone soldiers flying over the battlefield during the Battle of Geonosis), and Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Anakin Skywalker fighting in the final Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Obviously, since both movies were filmed and digitally stored, they were absolutely perfect, making the most of the 1080p Blu-ray. Never before have so well, even in passing HD television or the movies themselves.

But the surprise came with the clip of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. It was the opening sequence of the special edition of the film (when the Star Destroyer ship catches of Princess Leia), the time it first appeared in 1080 C3PO is impressive. Flashes of golden pieces of his body with such detail and brightness did think that the film was made this year instead of 34 years. Little more could be seen and even a little material displayed, everything suggests that Lucasfilm has done an impressive job with the transfer in high definition.

Remember that September 14 will be available for the first time the complete saga of Star Wars on Blu-ray and it's time to see if first impressions are true. Reservations for months running with great success.
It seems to me that they just used the other sites review

The only word I could understand was Cyan-ora. Look at the color of the walls on the Tantive 4.

That better not be official.

I want to drink the kool aid with you, but that blockade runner corridor is looking REALLY blue (not blu, but blue) in that shot. Which is a bad sign imo.

I call BS, too. The picture they show is fullscreen. Star Wars is 2.35:1 (or thereabouts), so there should be black bars at the top and bottom.

A picture of a television from someone's camera phone is not something on which to base color judgment. Don't fret, at least not based on that shot.

Yep. You´re right. It really looks too blue. Let´s hope Lucas will fix this.

The amount of scrutiny and observation of a set that hasn't been released in this thread is simply astounding.

Honestly, Lucasfilm isn't going to win in this situation with the way criticism is leveled at almost every release of a film on Blu Ray...

They're in a no win situation.

I wouldn't scrutinize a still from a digital camera about the picture quality of this release. Sheesh!
