George has given all of us memories and joys for a lifetime. We should all just appreciate the things he's done and continues to do.

Like I said, at the end of the day everyone will go gaga for Star Wars on blu-ray, right? We all just need to relax and have some Jawa Juice at Dexter Jettster's bar. LOL. Side note - does anyone think he's a pretty cool, underutilized character?

What George did with the prequels is take the OT and make the SW galaxy richer, denser, and deeper. He had to wait for technology to catch up with his mind. So, in a way the prequels represent what the OT should have been. ESB and ROTJ were directed by other people and aren't 100% Lucas' vision. That's why they seem out of place with the PT.

Maybe Lucas should remake the OT with younger actors, LOL.

The teaser trailer that was recently uploaded at Youtube has different colors compared to the 720p teaser that was released earlier.

Ha! I was just telling one of my buddies that Dexter Jettster is one of my least favorite parts of the PT. To each his/her own...eh?

That link to AICN about a possible audio remix gives me a little hope. Williams' drowned out score and the mixed surrounds get me even more than some of the video issues at times. The score is so near and dear to my heart that I'll never forgive Ben Burtt for screwing with it.

I'm keeping my B&N $45 pre-order regardless at this point. I've got all my digits crossed hoping that we get a new transfer and audio mix for the OT...That alone will make some of the more bothersome SE changes a little easier to swallow at this point.

I am excited to watch TPM for the first time in a while. Again...as someone posted earlier...the lightsabers and the pod race are awesome for audio buffs (like me). The depth charge sequence in AOTC should be amazing as well...too bad it's my least favorite Star Wars film...

Mostly off topic...but...if anyone hasn't watched "The Clone Wars" series, I highly recommend it. Some episodes miss at times, but all in all...it's a fantastic series. It has also helped me slowly accept the PT more and more. It hasn't helped tie the two trilogies together (I'm one who views them as two separate trilogies)...but I think the series does add a lot more weight and fun to most of the PT even though it's animated...

Pretty cool? Maybe. Underutilized? No. That would go to Dooku, imho.

I don't really know what's so bad about the Slip-Cases either... I've just bought "Frasier - the Complete Series" on DVD and i find the Slip-Cases very elegant and easy to handle!

Even though everything looked great so far and people at Comic-Con were raving about how good the movies looked everybody is demanding a new transfer!? I don't get that at all... Let's wait and see. All 6 movies will look marvellous!
Agree with you about the titles... what would also drive me crazy is the spacing of the letters on the side and the flipped image of Luke and Leia. Besides black on dark red isn´t very easy to read. The good news is that the set comes with a packaging so we don´t have to do ´em ourselves.

Still, I would have really liked to see new Struzan art for the box-set. Too bad Lucas didn´t commission Drew Struzan to do it. Would have been much more appropriate since Drew Struzan has been associated with Star Wars for a long time.

Phenomenal artwork...love the old school style. I have some LD rips of the OOT with old poster art at home and I prefer the old school look to anything I've seen today. I also have a soft spot for the "Faces" artwork since that was the first set I actually owned (and still do) on P&S VHS.

This is the correct answer. The prequels do little more than explain almost every thing that was a secret, mystery, major plot, etc to the main characters' developments and relationships (outside of Han) in the OT.

Watching the prequels first ruins the original trilogy. Simple as that.

I agree. Count Dooku was awesome. Christopher Lee was perfect for that role. "You have hate, you have anger, but you don't use them." - Lee

There's that old expression about "leaving something to the imagination". The richness of the SW galaxy existed in all of our heads long before the prequel trilogies. It's definitely not the technology that I have a problem with in the prequels, or the lack thereof in the originals.

The books also expanded upon the world without taking so many liberties and intentionally catering to a specific audience.

FWIW, I think ANH fits in perfectly with the OT and is just as jarring as the others when compared to the PT.

Dooku was a major step down after a real bad ass like Maul (IMO he was the best thing about the prequels) if anything Maul was not given enough screen time.

I do appreciate what Lucas has brought us, it has helped define my adolescence... but there has to be limits. You can only change a work of art so much before it is not the same work of art.
I too appreciate what Lucas has HELPED to bring us too bad he can't consider a large portion of his fan base.

I really like Christopher Lee as an actor so maybe I am biased. His voice is just so villainous. That's why I preferred him over Darth Maul, who never says or does anything other than fight.

Oh I love CL as an actor. But did Maul really have to say anything? He was like pure concentrated EVIL...like in Time Bandits!

I think anything after the way Maul looked would have been a step down though...seeing Maul was almost (not quite) as cool as seeing Vader for the first time in 1977.

Yea, to be honest I boycotted TPM when it came out and never saw it until after it came out for free on TV; I've only seen it once and that was on a small tv at my cottage. I was so put off by not understanding anything Jar Jar was saying. I haven't seen it since then so on Sept 17th I will get another chance to let you know how I feel about Darth Maul

According to GL, Maul was the weakest Sith in saga. He was basically a goon with no mastery other than the lightsaber. He was cool to watch, but never impressed me as any kind of real enemy... More like the thug who stands there and says things like Duh, train tracks.

If you watch The Clone Wars, you figure out where Maul came from and what race he is. Also, you find out that another being from his race becomes an apprentice of Dooku. His name is Savage Opress. You figure out really quickly that Maul's race are very brutish, and full of anger. So it makes sense that Maul was good with the lightsaber, but not the force.

I've got seasons one & two on Blu, but I haven't really plunged too deep in yet. I'm waiting until I have time to do a proper marathon.

Yea, that was basically my point. Chistopher Lee's Dooku I felt had a little more substance; while I do admire the cool acrobatics of Maul.
