I have a BD30 and do not have an LFE problem. I have seen comments on the thread in AVS about it on certain discs with certain receivers( I think it was the Onkyo models). I have not seen any lack in LFE on any of the action based BD's I have played on it.

If you haven't noticed the issue, then it is probably not affecting you.
The guys at AVS are really good at picking up these kind of issues but they are also good at blowing it up to something that is bigger than what it actually is. ![]() |

When playing back PCM tracks only, the LFE is cut by about 4-5db.
On the newly released Resident Evil, it appears that due to a disk mastering problem, the TrueHD track will not play correctly. |

The problem is with PCM mastered discs, no other audio formats (DD, TrueHD, DTS, etc.). Since PCM is already decoded bitstreaming has no effect on the problem.
While you may not obviously hear the problem it IS there, and has nothing to do with what receiver one uses. I have a Onkyo 905, but Denon and Yamaha users also report the same problem. Radio Shack SPL meters should be standard equipment for any HT so you can properly set the levels for your speakers. It's not just for hard core AVS people. ![]() That being said, there's no easy way to *properly* compensate for the low LFE problem in a receiver. If you boost your sub or bass levels, you also boost the re-directed bass from the main channels. This results in OVER compensated bass for some frequencies and the "right" levels for others. So the only proper fix is for Panny to issue a firmware update. |

It started with REE and froze up so bad on Sunshine that it would'nt let me turn it off or open the tray.I had to unplug it and start the movie over. Then I noticed jerks at times in the pic.I have the update disc on the way from Panasonic but am hearing it causes audio drop outs.I am so confused that I am considering taking it back.I only buy Panasonic equipment and hope this is a firmware problem not a defective machine.

Did you try resetting the machine as described in the manual? If that doesn't work I would think about taking it back. I don't think the firmware may help you. What audio drop outs are you talking about? I'm running 1.3 with no problems. Many here are also. Try not to take what a few write as gospel for everything across the board. |
