You could get by without it as the outer case you got would work as is just fine, but I'd still return it since whoever you bought it from shouldn't be shipping it that way.

can someone tell me if the amazing life thx trailer is at the end of the collectors edition too or is it just on the original?

Barnes and Noble sells them without the slipcover as well. You do have the right to return it. It might be less a hassle for you to just go to walmart or something and grab a slipcover off a copy there.

It's at the end of the collector's edition as well. You're not going to be missing out.

just picked up the collectors edition yesterday, not a fan of the packaging at all. i already returned a copy for having a scratch on it i couldnt get off, and now the 2nd copy has one too. not as bad as the 1st one, but ive never had this problem with a blu before. usually ill just take a microfiber cloth and it wipes away. no luck with this one. im tempted to exchange it again but i feel like every copy will have some nick in one way or another because of the packaging...

My copy's mint and always has been. I don't think the packaging destroys discs that often.

Ordered the EE (abstained from the first release) so I can't wait until it comes in. I haven't seen Avatar since it was in theaters.

I missed it at the theatres, but own 3 copies of the film. 2 steelbooks and 1 iron pack. I just love this movie, and can't wait for the second.

took it back a 2nd time at a diff best buy and got a mint one. a couple scratches but they wiped right off this time. now i can put my ocd to rest lol

Just got mine from Amazon. Agreed on not liking the packaging. Small scratches on discs 2 and 3. Probably not an issue at all in playback so I'm not too worried about them. I like how the movies has the "family pack" audio that removes the objectionable language. Now we can watch it with our 3rd grader.

Just watched my copy of it (and the movie) for the first time. It was a pretty good movie, not in my top10 or anything, but visually was awesome. I was blown away by how vivid it was.

Well I just bought this yesterday, first time I've owned any version of it as I wasn't very impressed by the movie in cinemas (way overhyped, crappy story, etc etc) but I felt like watching it again and saw it for $25 on shelf

Watching the special extended version and the new intro is pretty dull & makes it feel cornier than before. Good thing it has seamless options though

(one thing I like about blurays over DVDs)

I don't really like the bluray cover on the extended version either, I keep thinking its a David Attenborough Deep Ocean documentary

Seamless branching actually started with DVD. Some titles on DVD such as The Abyss and The Lion King utilized this technology.

I got a crazy price on the avatar extended edition blu today at blockbuster. 9.99. I grabbed the last 2 there. Was an error. The price stickers were the same on the blu and dvd. It rang up as 14.99. I got the better price. Still not a bad price for this bluray edition. Brand new btw.
