It is becoming increasingly more obvious that the blu-ray trailer was not made up of any blu-ray footage if the sabre is anything to go by.

Closer to the '97 print, but improved?

Are you smiling because that's been your point all along, or because you're encouraged there is better quality content out there that you havent' seen?

I can understand minor irritation about sabers, but if it's a deal breaker, really now, I think it goes too far. I don't care about the colour of the sabers, that doesn't make me less of a Star Wars fan, does it?

The original Blu-Ray trailer from months ago? It was obvious that wasn't Blu-Ray footage from the start.

Since it's a common practice to use available elements for the first trailers. Disney does the same thing.

I'm not smiling through vindication of my conspiracy theory () but because none of these things had ever bothered me before I came on to this forum, and I knew that if these errors remained, I would have been looking at them more than enjoying the film. Now I am getting the feeling that this is going to be a day long remembered

Yup, exactly what I have been saying but getting no joy back from anyone, but also the full trailer that had the offending 'pinkie' from a few days ago. That should have been blu footage but I never bought it.

I hope that you can be like me and enjoy them in glorious BD without dissecting them. I didn't dissect them when I was 5, I don't need to do it when I'm 35.

We are singing from the same hymn sheet with every extra bit of footage I see that makes it look like things can only get better.

you don't consider the detail or the sharpness. The blu ray clip is limitate for the compression.
You must evaluate the color

Default UK version

I see the UK version will follow the foot steps of the Alien Anthology with better packaging and plastic disc cases, vs the paper packaged U.S. version.

Will the UK discs also be exactly the same and region free as in the Alien Anthology?

the colors look better in the top one, either way the top is clearer, sharper and more natural.

The Alien Anthology was a Digipak in a slipcase to start of with then a 25mm(?) Amaray in a slipcase. The UK Star Wars is a Digistack. I'd imagine they might be identical apart from different subtitle options. Alien was region free I think.

It's a wrong comparison

Denmark hmm

"Burned-in" subtitles are just so f***ing lame - not everyone have english as their first language - and when a "Burned-in" subtitle appers on the screen it affects the native-language-subtitle.

Subtitles should be part of selection with options

English all the way through
english when another language is spoken

then it won't affect the picture for ud in DK who is watching DIE ANOTHER DAY and there suddenly are big screen burned-in subtitles in english that takes half of the picture

The same goes for STAR WARS - THERE MUST NOT BE BURNED-IN SUBTITLES on those videos

You are not even comparing the same shot. And as we can see in the comparison above, the sabers are exactly the same as in 2004. Nothing was changed here.

Ok thx.

FYI I got the US Alien verision, didn't like the packaging, then got the UK version...and can confirm the discs were absolutely identical in every way including the same language audio options. My concern was the UK version would have MORE languages and force a reduction in bitrates on the video...but they were exactly the same.
