Assuming that the scratched up print was the only copy he had. I agree that Lucas probably doesn't want pristine versions of deleted material out there for people to re-edit into the films. This man is an absolute hoarder when it comes to Star Wars. I'm sure there's tons more in the archives that have yet to be seen.

I like the scene and wish he had kept it in. I know opinions vary on it but we all knew where everyone ended up anyway, so already knowing Yoda's fate doesn't really seem like a good reason to delete it. It was only 30 seconds long. Not really long enough to slow down the pacing of the film, in my opinion. I even remember McCallum saying that he wished Lucas had kept it in. One of the few times he actually disagreed with his boss, lol.

True, they could, but he probably feels that it would be a waste of money to restore deleted scenes. As someone else said, Lucas probably doesn't want restored versions out there floating around either. I've got my issues with some of the special features, such as Disc 9's content and the lack of a Disc 10, but I can understand him not bothering to fix these. In a way, it would be cool to see them completely fixed and finished but on the other hand, if he feels they don't belong in the films, why bother fixing them?

I think these are all the same as the German ones, just with English audio... and only in 720p

I really hope that's just a weird compression issue which made the audio lower. I'd hate to think that the classic movie that kick-started the series is going to begin with a moronic audio problem....or "change".

Hate to say it but the German language version had the same issue.

Can't tell if you're joking or not. Obviously, restoration costs have dropped since 2004... processing power has increased 10x since then. The clean-up process is software based - there's very little human intervention.

Lucas would have fixed those deleted scenes if he wanted them fixed. Again, the Jabba scene in EP 4 was re-inserted 20 years later and doesn't have quality issues.

Excellent point...the Jabba scene is now seamless. Aside from the spotty CG Jabba that is.

But I don't mind the scenes not being restored. I'm glad just to see them. Though it would have been awesome to have them in better quality.

Did we never get a source for this? A lot of those deleted scenes sound like wishful thinking to me, especially the prequel ones. I am dubious... (even though there is stuff missing...like the stuff aboard General Nadine's flagship).

So as I understand it then if I want to watch all the deleted scenes from the prequels I have to watch them on blu ray and then switch to my old DVD's to watch the rest! What a pain in the arse that is.

Seriously...what a stupid decision it was to not put the DVD deleted scenes in as well so that everything is in one place. And don't get me started on the other DVD special features not being on this set!

Very excited that it's new deleted/extended scenes for the Prequels. Bummed that the one deleted scene I wanted to see doesn't seem to be listed (Conversation between Padme and Obi-Wan in her apartment).

No big deal. Still, between the DVDs package and this, that's almost all of the deleted/extended scenes.
