If you were Introducing a kid to the series, they would have no knowlege of anything star wars so all of the revelations would be a suprise to them. When I first watched the OT it had already been on vhs for a while, and all 3 had already came out and the twist in empire was a major shock to me! Simply because there was no internet to spoil things like there is now, and everyone was polite enough who had already seen it not to spoil it for me.

So there is definitly a possibility of someone watching the OT and not knowing all of the plot twist, even if there isn't many who don't know anymore. The problem now is would the SE ending of jedi make sense to someone who has never seen or heard of the prequels?

The Phantom Menace is my favorite of the prequels. But I consider Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith unwatchable, so that's not saying much.

The first time I watch the Blus, I'm going story order. Repeat viewings will be release order which is my preferred viewing order, though I may try IV, V, I, II, III, VI just for fun once or twice.

For some bizarre reason, I like the following viewing order: IV - I - II - V - III - VI. Star Wars introduces the whole world and establishes the main characters, then TPM and AotC take us back to the past of the Jedi and establish the history of Anakin becoming a Jedi. Then return to TESB, further developing the story of Luke, Han, & Leia - and dropping the bombshell of Vader's identity (which, granted, the viewer might be able to guess at this given the events of AotC, but it's still not fully given away). It also sets up the "other" potential Jedi, who we don't yet know the identity of. RotS then tells of the downfall of Anakin and the rise of Vader and the Empire - as well as the surprise reveal of Leia as Luke's sister (and the "other" Yoda spoke of). Then go back to RotJ, as the emotional resolution of all the different characters' storylines.

Sort of a Tarantino-esque order; but I rather like it.

No offense, but it seems like some people just want something negative to say. The point of those comparisons is to show the increase in detail/resolution, not colors or brightness. There's so much more detail in skin textures and hair. So we can bet that the blu rays will look just as good (maybe even a little better) as far as detail. How good the colors will be, we can't know for sure yet.

So why quote my post then? That wasn't negative at all. It was in reply to the posts where people had commented on how much better the HD versions would look because there is more detail because they are brighter. I just pointed out that the screen captures misrepresented the colouring/ brightness and i actually did say that the only difference would be the resolution and therefore the detail aspect.

Agree. I'll go 1 through 6, saving the three originals(and best)for last.

OK, after a very quick contrast/colour adjustment, now which ones looks better. Han's skintone is a bit different (better IMO), the background green colours are identical. I've improved the contrast and select colours in the others as well.

And saying they look like "shit" just proves my point, so thanks.

Sorry if I misread you, your post just seemed more like you were just complaining about the colors being off.

Oh well, least we know now that the 2004 Jabba is in A New Hope (not that it was ever really in doubt). Funny screenshot though - it just reminds me of how poor he looks in comparison to the 1997 version!

That's fine. I could also make a case that you're just looking to prove your point with pictures that are dissimilar.

Perhaps if you actually gave a caveat, it would have made your case stronger. Regardless, ANYONE could see that there is a major contrast issue with the caps.

That's not looking for an argument. That's being accurate. If you had wanted people to ignore the obvious and only agree with you, then you should have said that and we could have all done that and moved along.

Wait? You think the 1997 one looks better than the 2004 one?

I can't see how anyone would. The 1997 one is off on a number of areas. He's scrawny and a bit too short. But his face is the biggest problem. His nostrils and eyes don't look anything like the RotJ puppet. His coloring is especially off... and they even screwed up on the correct number of fingers. The 2004 one fits so much better with the Jabba from RotJ. Not only facially but he also has the correct number of fingers, and the right coloring. Heck, they even left off the tattoo on the '97 one.

Wow, that's cute and awesome!!! And by a Montreal team as I can see!!

2004 Jabba is better IMO. I always disliked how he scream (and How Han Solo "walk" on the tail) in the 1997 version.

I preferred the '97 Jabba as he had a bit more personality in his body language/facial expressions. The '04 version just looks like what I dump during a hangover.

They both look terrible and nothing like Jabba in Jedi to me anyway.

Yeah, but don't forget that we've only seen the '97 Jabba on VHS's. He could look quite different in HD

Thats very true! However his color looks a little better on the blu-ray than on the 04 dvd I guess that's something.

The 2004 Jabba is definitly closer to the look of Jabba from Jedi, even though it is still off.
