You know I can't believe some fans are saying the new screen screen captures from the BD's are fake and not from the blu-rays and their complaining about the colors still not being right. I mean come on. Adam has done a great job with his report and we will just have to wait to hear more from his report in the next few days.

Check the link, Ken - Adam Gregorich, the guy who posted the report, says himself the pics are not direct screen caps from the blu-rays.

Now, is that a case of a hater not believing or is it the case of someone making a direct disclaimer? Think about it.

they are fake- a few post up that is confirmed.

they represent changes made to the film that will be on the blu-rays but they are absolutely not of the new transfer

I think there's just a lot of confusion over it. I mean, they're not technically from the Blu-ray in the sense that they accurately represent the image, but you can get the jist of the technical changes from the photos. It's not a wonder people are confused if you ask me.

All this information and all the misinformation that's floating around - I keep hearing rumours about the Holiday Special being included (despite the obvious falsehood of that) - people are definitely confused for a reason. lol

It's potentially on there as an Easter Egg. If you read into how Lucasfilm worded the response to the question.

seriously....

how do you know that.

they could be from the work station of the ILM employee that made the changes, you don't know anything as a fact.

Ugh...Adam's saber cross shot looks perfect. Are you telling me that it is possibly not what we'll be seeing come September?

It looks much better compared to this:

Sure, the picture above is much better than the 2004, but the picture Adam showed us is even better...

I think clips from it may potentially be there - but the entire production? I doubt it. And I would frankly prefer it not to be taking up dream space. I'd rather they have made sure that all the archival stuff from the Laserdisc, VHSes, and DVDs were on a Blu-ray disc with two or three discs of new stuff. They could burn all the Holiday Specials and it wouldn't bother me.

I'm aware that's an extreme, but I'm just not a fan. And I really don't think the entire thing will be on there.

Because they're part of the packet of information given to those who attended the summit.

Unless you believe he has access to a theatrical print of TPM to grab that one image from.

Lucasfilm states the masters were very ahead of thier time when done and bull$h!+! They were HD masters for dvd in 2004 that was 95% the norm at that time. Lowry did some cleanup, but there was little groundbreaking about them! Lowry had done a number of 4K transfers for dvd by that point in 2004. Using 1.9K elements when they could have used the 35mm elements from the 97 SE and should have been scanned in at 4K. The couple of minutes worth of digital effects for the SE could simply have been upconverted to 4K, no different than Spiderman 3. 1.9K masters for the original trilogy is pretty ridiculous for a bluray release of this magnitude in 2011!
that would be fair to say if the blu-rays look like garbage. at this point there is nothing to give evidence of the blu's rocking or sucking.

the wookiegroomer 1080p versions of the HD broadcast look pretty damn good- even if they do just do "minimal tweaks"- it will look amazing.

we will find out within two weeks- lets be patient, its not like they are going to hold the release if we all act angry for no reason.

The problem is/will be a lot of people/sites posting snipets of information out there in order to generate hits to their site. A professional/ethical review on this set will take many days, yes days. Throwing stuff just be first is happening and will continue to happen...I agree with georgec, I will take my own opinion of the set, after watching it, over any review or professional opinion. Check back with me on Monday
[Show spoiler]and I still will have nothing further to post on the subject
.

i am not questioning adam's ability to access anything.

i am just reiterating the facts of what he said- he said they represent the changes that were made to the movies as they exist now and they do not represent the blu-ray quality.

that is all i am saying- you really can't draw any other conclusions for what was stated, this conversation is hurting my brain.

An unbiased, unemotional post - thank you. That has always been my point - advance footage can be used to support either side of this argument. When all is said and done people will love the discs and others might dislike them.

Prob. from BARNES & NOBLE back in April where they had a One-Day 50% "list price" sale & since their price was around the same as Amazon
[Show spoiler]($90, maybe B&N was a few $$$$ more)
, I pre-ordered the set & paid just $46+ tax ($48+ or so).

[Show spoiler]Did the same for the TRON/TRON LEGACY 2-movie collection, & the LOTR: EE set (<--- $44 or so total)

Totally agree 100%. Not sure which order I'll watch them in, but I'm assuming they'll look and sound Fine on My 7.2 setup also!

So you've seen the ENTIRE 6-Movie collection or just select scenes in general? If the former, where's a Detailed Review JW'

Apparently, you have missed this key word in his post. Nearly = almost, so he is correct.

Anyway, the early reviews do seem promising, but I will be eagerly awaiting an official review.

but it's not even September 2011.

It's nearly the 7th anniversary of the 2004 DVDs, not the 8th! Unless he managed to get ahold of the 2004 DVDs a whole year before they came out
