That makes a helluva lot of sense.

You should have been a marketing major, since you know so much.
Actually I have worked in marketing and in media marketing. When you assemble promotional trailers you work with what you've got.

The Comic Con Rebel Base footage is a perfect example. My guess is marketing was given a couple of ILM approved scenes to run at their big kiosk on the HDTVs, but that Death Star assault presentation was probably put together some 6 months ago, well before there was a final lock on these discs. The editors likely only had the old HD 1080p transfer to work from and probably had a few notes here and there regarding color timing and corrections from ILM.

This kind of stuff doesn't just happen instantly overnight... they actually do plan this stuff pretty carefully.

Really, arent you bored of trying to prove your point yet again by making sweeping assupmtions and quoting things that were never said? The musical journey footage contained Rob Colemans (know him? ILM and all that) test footage of replacing Yoda in Episode 1 (you know, the exact same footage you keep banging on about) that featured on the Episode 3 DVD as well. Not fan made, official, but not finished.

No offense Indy, but why are you posting all the clips, that have already been posted in previous pages?

Also, does anyone else think the fight between Obi-Wan and Maul has been slowed down? I keep hearing multiple clash effects, but there's only a few in the clip.

It's called common courtesy; you may want to look it up.

I'd have to go several pages back to find it, but I do know it was posted about 2 days ago. One of the review sites for the Blu-Ray had links to all the clips.

Maybe these clips could be merged to a different thread? Or to the first or second post in this thread?

No worries; I just didn't want to wade through 30 pages or so of endless bickering, just to track it down. I do think placing all the clips in the first post would be a good idea.

By the way Indy, I like your avatar. George Lucas frozen in carbonite; it'd make a great "gag gift" for diehard fans, if they made a statue of it or something.

As a huge Star Wars fan this thread should be my favorite one to come to on here, instead its the opposite. It's nothing but bickering and crying. Come September 16th I'll be sitting at home enjoying the greatest saga of all time. For those that don't want it don't buy it.

Moviefan2k4... just don't rise to it. The Mods are on a VERY short fuse right now.

Really looking forward to seeing those Deleted Scenes they showcased in Empire Magazine.

I have wanted to see that Hoth/Wampa scene ever since the first ESB trailer with footage from the film showing C-3PO ripping that sign off the door to where they have the Wampas trapped. Never thought they would ever release that stuff. It's probably the thing I'm most excited for.

I just saw the footage of the new digital Yoda in Episode 1 and it does look great! I understand that the change was made possibly as early as before Episode 3, but for some reason the CGI model and movements look better than either Yoda in Episode 2 or 3.

All indications point that The Phantom Menace is going to be the most dramatic difference in picture quality and "improvements," probably because it had to be prepped for the 3D rerelease. I thinks its fairly obvious that Lucasfilm is saving the big updates for the OT for the 3D releases, despite any statements to the contrary. While the Blu Rays are a nice placeholder for the "definitive" editions, it's nothing more than an attempt to capitalize on the Blu Ray medium before the Complete Saga Blu Ray 3D box set is unveiled.

I have a feeling the 'new scenes' that GL may have shot for the OT will debut for the 3D versions then eventual BD's.

The 3D version The Phantom Menace is the same as the Blu-ray version.

Makes sense. Since if they were saving the NEW stuff for the 3-D, they wouldn't have fixed the Yoda Puppet.

Can't believe how much different the screenshots from E1 look compared to the previous DVD.

And glad they confirmed in that one image on SW.Com that they fixed Fode & Beed's hand going thru his chest.
