Everyone, calm down. We are talking about a 20+ year old light sabre.

The batteries have gone a bit flat, that's all. Plus, it has been sitting in a chest for 20 odd years at Obi Wan's house. There has probably been some battery leak if he didn't take them out before giving it to Luke.

Plus it's clearly blue in the LFL 'fixed shot' online still. How can it make sense that it be white in one shot and then change to blue?

Fast forward another 7 years and LFL's selling point will be..."and now for the first time ever in HD watch Luke's saber be blue for the whole film. We have finally fixed it for the fans to prove we listen to them!"

Now this we agree on.

Before I assume that the rest aren't troublesome for them, I'll have to see if all the pink/no core 2004 lightsaber flaws from ESB and ROTJ are fixed. We know they fixed the saber cross in ROTJ. I wonder about all of those other comparisons I posted a few weeks ago. I hope they aren't going on the cheap and just touching the one Falcon shot and the saber cross in Jedi.

Then why was it a nice bright blue when Luke used it in Obi-Wan's hut?

I think what's maddening, is that all this *****ing and griping could so easily have been avoided, either by:

a) spending the time and money to fix the flaws properly.

or

b) just being straight up with the fans in the first place.

This is a mess totally of their own making. Most fans were used to the idea that the UOT wasn't going to be released, that there would be more tweaks, and that the 04 transfers were probably going to be the basis here, and most fans would be perfectly happy with the Saga in Blu-Ray quality (which I still will be).

It just leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

Obi wan put some new batteries in he found lying around. You know how it is, they were pretty flat as well, but had a little bit of life left in them when they first get used. Remember, he didn't live near any supermarkets and had to use what he had. The Jundland wastes are not to travelled lightly you know

(You did note the sarcasm in the post???)

But see, you can't say they haven't spent time and money to do this set...yet. You can say they haven't spent time and money doing this scene but from early reports on the leaks, they say the audio is freaking amazing...which would prove that Matthew Wood wasn't lying when he stated they started working on the audio in '07...

The next big debacle will be the garbage mattes. They claimed to have fixed a ton of them yet almost every shot on the Moments site has very visible mattes. Obviously these might not be final Blu-Ray shots but I just get this feeling that its going to be another case of telling the fans what they want to hear and then doing absolutely nothing to rectify the problem.

Let's not forget that Luke needed to make his own lightsaber sound effects in some scenes because Ben Burtt was too busy making dragon calls.

Honestly? While I am very glad they re-did the sound mix if I had to pick between a fixed audio mix and fixed visual effects I would have picked the visual effects... But I guess Lucasfilm disagrees.

So it is the same piece of shit like 7 years ago, green blade instead of blue, thin blades and yellow flashes in OBi-Wan/Vader duel...
The most ironic, is that they fix ONE shot in Luke's training abord the Falcon, just to say: "You see, we fix one shot, but for the others, you will have to content yourself with the green blade!... Ahahahah!"

**** you Lucasfilm.

Edit:

And don't forget: that's only ANH. Right after will come ESB.
Vader saber will be cleaned in on shot, but all the others will be brightless and pinkies...
This set will be the weapon of the crime.

I appreciate that, but then what have they been working on visuals wise?

I'll answer my own question: I'm guessing the features.

Look, I'll still be buying the sets, and I have no doubt they will look and sound better than any other home format I've owned, so that's great, I think what winds me up in this instance is the idea of that bullshit press release.

Maybe Lucas will read this post and have an all new digital scene of Toshi Station. Luke and Obi-Wan pull up in the landspeeder, Luke goes into the store and asks for a case of 'D' batteries.

(No sarcasm, no sarcasm here)

You need to clearly define what fixed visual effects you want. The Battle of Yavin got a make over in '97 and people are still pissed about it, even though the Battle of Yavin Special Edition pretty much owns how it originally looked in '77.

It's a slippery slope when it comes to picking and choosing which visual effects to fix and not to fix.

Still, if I had it my way, I'd have this scene fixed to match the saber blades in the rest of the Saga. I agree with everyone on that one.

Still, I just find it humorous that they can do all the saber blades right in the Prequels, pretty much right in the Originals...except this one scene.

That's why I'm not up in arms about this issue because, it's never been right in this specific scene.

Fair play, but sound is 50% of the experience of a film with a half decent sound system. That special effect is 5 odd seconds. I don't think they have done justice to the films or the fans, but will be happy if the sound is as good as reported.

Don't forget the new commentaries with Lucas making up all new stories as to how he had everything figured for the entire saga back in 1975.

How do we know that these screenshots are legit. Do we have proof? It would have been easy to add the Krayt call to make it look legit.
