I believed it. I just hated the idea. The p-sspoor execution of it when I finally saw the clip only made it worse.

But at least I could understand in Lucas' warped mind why he'd wanna make that change. It links the Holy Trilogy to the prequels. Adding these "NO!"s to ROTJ I suppose bookends Vader's "NO!" in ROTS, but that's dumb since A)the end of ROTS is one of the most notoriously laughable moments in the entire saga and B)it undermines one of the best moments in the saga in ROTJ. Williams' score is all that scene needs(well that and Luke's screaming).

I have to say the new Vader No...NOOO line has made me laugh more than anything in the last few weeks. Can't wait to purchase the set and crank the volume through my surround sound system when that scene happens

What a shock! Star Wars fans are complaining. Too bad you're all going to buy the set anyways despite all the "pre-order cancelled" nonsense. You might as well enjoy it.

The screenshots look good. Better than the HDTV ones. Good grain. Good detail. The actual BD should look even better without the compression. Like LOTR, this will most likely be a great looking set. Though it would be hard to tell through the very loud bickering.

Since Greedo and Jabba from the SEs in '97, George has been on a slippery slope towards insanity... jk. When I make MY Star Wars movie, Han will shoot Jabba...

I can assure you, I won't be running out to get this on September 16, as I planned to.

I'll be waiting until the price drops to around $60-70 for the Complete Saga, if that means waiting 6 months or so, then so be it.

So, someone over at theforce.net has a synced clip up on youtube for the Vader moment from Episode VI.

Having seen it synced, it's actually not bad....

Actually I just realized that Lucas may be trying to link this to 2 scenes in ROTS. The infamous "NOOOO!" at the end and when Anakin screams "NO!" before turning on Mace and saving Palpatine. In fact, thematically the latter makes more sense. It's still a stupid change, but if I'm jumping through hoops to understand Lucas' thought process, that's the best I can come up with.

Eh. The "Nooooo" of Vader's on RotJ doesn't bug me. Fits the scene well enough.

I'll wait until I can hear it on the Blu-ray to really judge how it sounds. Not some audio file on the net.

The first "No" I don't care for as much. It's still cold and emotionless. But the "Nooooo" seems to kind of work. Like it's Vader's "Humanity" resurfacing.

But the more I watch it, I kind of like that the first "No" is so cold and emotionless. Like someone groggily coming to their senses.

Barring a price drop at amazon, I'll only be paying ~$8 for this thanx to GCs. I'd have paid full price for it anyway - it's Star Wars, after all - but if these new "fixes" are the real deal, they really make this set worth every penny I'm paying...

Actually, it's EXACTLY what he set out to achieve with this change.

I'm going to cancel my pre-order and wait for reviews I think. George Lucas has had enough of my money over the years and the product just seems to be getting worse or at the very least no better. Hopefully these leaks are a joke, particularly Vader's new Nooooooooooooooooooooooo's.

Seriously, Prowse(or the stuntman if that's who was in the suit) manages to pull it off with just a few head movements.
QFT

This is what's been bothering me about the SE's from the beginning. The best parts about some of the characters are ruined by totally unnecessary revisionism (Han shooting Greedo first, then him telling Lando to trust him rather than "It's all right, i can see alot better," when saving him from the Sarlacc, etc.). And now adding needless dialogue to a scene that plays out perfectly because of the LACK OF DIALOGUE, WTF!?!?!?!?!?

I recently re-watched Jedi in anticipation, and the only things that really, truly bothered me were the pointless dialogue changes, and effing Jedi Rocks. That song is seriously the single worst part of Jedi SE. Oh, wait, now it WAS the worst part. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

But is "not bad..." good enough for a) a film of this status and b) for one of the greatest scenes in a film ever?

I don't think so, despite what I said on the last page, I might just pick up the prequel trilogy on BR and keep the '04 dvds... I don't mind colour timing issues, crap sabers, han shooting at the same time etc, but the No...Noooo dampens a great scene (one of the most important in the trilogy) and my favourite scene of the saga.

It is a stupid change and someone ought to tell it to his face that he's ruining one of the best scenes in the entire saga! might as well insert "noooooo! I left the lights on in the bedroom." Both are laughably bad. This is sad, just sad.

While I don't necessarily hate the new "No, NOOOOOO" and will not be deterred from buying it, it is completely unnecessary. The old mantra "actions speak louder than words" is what made this scene great. Vader's actions demonstrate that he has had a change of heart, and he doesn't want to see his son die, so he saves him. The additional line change totally cheapens this, but overall, I'm just annoyed by this, not outraged. It's still fundamentally the same damn movie, so as I said, I'll still be getting this.

I remember being a kid seeing ROTJ for the first time, it was in 97, but that's besides the point. As The Emperor was frying Luke, I remember being amazed at how much emotion was conveyed through Vader, and of course you couldn't see any facial expressions!
