Well, if that's true, then he SHOULD include ALL 3 versions like Spielberg did with Close Encounters, then he can please all fans. Unfortunately, pleasing all fans is not something that's in his agenda.

Well I grew up with the original and 99% of the time the unaltered version is the one I watch unless I catch it on tv. So I actually have the opposite reaction when I watch SE I remember the original version, which only makes the changes worse since 99% of the time the changes are for the worse! He can't take that away from me, lol I won't let him! I actually never watch my 04 dvd.

I love that everyone seems to get so mad about it and take it so personally. It's hilarious and pathetic at the same time. There are far more worthwhile things to get stressed and angry over in life. At the end of the day, they're only movies. And don't give me that "raped my childhood" crap. You're an adult now, act like one. Buy it or not and move on.

This is great as far as I'm concerned, at this point the more ridiculous it is the better. I just watched the blinky Ewoks on YouTube. Hahaha, hilarious. CGI eyelids: Problem Solved. The Ewoks sucked to being with but now that they have the CGI blinks at least they make me laugh.

And really, it shouldn't be. An artists first and only loyalty should be to his own artistic integrity, not pleasing "fans" who cling to hard to a piece of fiction.

From chubigans over at neogaf regarding the recording of Vader's new lines-

_________________

They actually got James Earl Jones to record the lines, by accident.

*phone rings*
"Hello Mr.Jones, we'd like for you to come in and record a few more dialogue samples for Darth Vader for the new Star Wars Blu-Rays."
"Nooooo."
"I'm sorry, what was that?"
"I SAID NOOOO! STOP CALLING ME!"
*hangs up*

...

"He hung up...did it record ok Ben?"
"Hah, I got it!"

I love how some hate the changes Lucas makes yet openly look forward to fan edits.

Seeing as how there are actually people who's lives are based around the film industry (directors, actors, etc.), I find this to be a ridiculous comment.

I'll get angry over what I want to get angry over, and you can do the same.

On the other hand, it's even more amusing how the die-hard apologists are just giving a blanket "OMG IT'S AWESOME BEST THING EVER TEN THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!11" to this. I wonder how far Lucas could take this? Replace C-3PO with a Transformer? OMG best change ever! Director's intent! George Lucas! Replace blasters with knitting needles? OMG amazing! What a visionary! Make Luke Skywalker a vampire?! PERFECT! Just what this franchise always needed!

I have a hard time believing these people are even real, and not just trolls/cyborgs/Lucas employees or something.

Vader saying "NOOOOOO!" is 'awesome'? Hahaha. Oh laaaaawd.

Anyway I don't hate this new stuff enough to lose my mind over it like some obviously are, but the hardcore apologists are completely ridiculous in their capacity to just lap up literally every change George Lucas makes, as long as he approves it. It seems like he could just replace the whole movie with a romantic comedy set on Kashykk starring only Wookiees with no subtitles, and these people would still rant and rave about how it's the greatest change ever and really makes the whole "saga" come alive.

He could literally crap in a box and people would still buy it. Hold that... not just buy it, but laud it as the greatest achievement in cinema history and create 2000 IMDB accounts to rate it 10/10.
I was laughing my butt off when i read this

Just how out of touch are they with their fanbase? I would argue that they simply don't care. The attitude seems to be "it's MY movie and I can do whatever the hell I want to it so there!" It seems like they literally just tuned out everyone planning to buy it, and just had a long list of things that always "bugged" Lucas employees and chose which ones to address.

Blinking Ewoks? What an utter waste of everyone's time and talent. It's just OCD stuff that nobody has ever really cared about or even suggested as a change.

Very disappointing.

As I've said though, still gonna buy it. I want my Star Wars on Blu, as retarded as some of these changes are.

I will say this I'm in the middle about buying this, I do hate the changes and I want to see what the reviewers think first.

no, apparently a certain member here has either informed the mods or implied in here that i am offering 720p fan edit versions on this site and also that i am promoting my edits here too. Please point to one post where i have promoted my edits. Any time they are mentioned it is not by me. Others bring them up and i can do nothing about that. When someone has posted one of my videos i have asked them to remove it. I haven't been banned yet, but i have received an infraction for something i have not done. I didn't want to bring this up in here but i thought that i needed to because this post was inaccurate.

Most of the fan edits are meant to remove the hated changes while preserving A/V quality. There's some customization out there, I'll give you that, but in general the fan edits are more like preservations.

This would be relevant if I were actually discussing the business of film, but unfortunate for you, I was not.

They're still fan edits that don't preserve squat. You know what's prserved? The '06 Limited Edition second disc.

You want your theatrical cuts? They're there on disc two of that set. Period. End of discussion.

The damn DVDs don't spontaneously combust the moment a Blu Ray upgrade is available.

And as you say, the fan edits always make changes that they (the editor/creator of said fan edit) wants to see. So, how is this different from Mr. Lucas?

Not for me, Vader´s ´Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!´ at the end of ROTJ is laughable and just too much to swallow. I expect it will be for many others as well. This is IMHO the worst change of all in this latest incarnation of the OT. I think George may have gone too far this time.

Just cancelled my amazon order.

Your comment about "they're only movies" insinuated that movies are not worth getting worked up over. I was making the point that this would depend on what matters to the individual. Not what you think they should or shouldn't get worked up over.

...and I'm glad you think people getting passionate about something near to their heart is worth laughing over.
