I think people can easily be upset by this but still want the set regardless, and buying it doesn't mean you are 100% happy with it. Sure, attacking other members isn't helping anyone and that shouldn't be happening, but I don't see a problem with people expressing disappointment over it.

You have to admit it's a rather special circumstance, since these movies are the only ones incessantly tinkered with for every single release.

Exactly! I cannot understand why people say: "See it in context of the movie when you have the blu ray." Its safe to say most of us have seen Jedi close to 100 times. I don't need to see the full film to know that: "I just do not like this change." I think this is Lucasfilms' way of saying: Please give us your money first, each set includes a special "right to complain about the Blu Ray changes Token" that is activated via online web forums of your choosing. Ugh.

Sadly, it is not a hoax (I was wishing too), but Lucasfilm confirmed it.

I accept and can understand that. However, it seems to be going over the top here and some guys are almost taking this as a personal afront, and that is the part I cannot really understand. It's a movie/series....it's not life.

That's a good question as he lived in the town, Luke should have been on the side of the Lars Homestead or it should have been made partially visable like Luke.

Wasn't there a poster with Anakin's shadow up against the Lars homestead or was that just a random building?

Well, it could be the Lars' homestead as you say, but then again, the outer wall in that poster looks a little too big. The dome's much smaller than that.

Not at all. You seem to be really taking issue with people expressing their dislike of that change. Some feel strongly enough that they'll skip the set. Some dislike the change but not to the degree that it will affect their decision to buy. Nothing hypocritical about that. I hate the Han/Greedo change, the "bring my shuttle change", and the Hayden for Shaw change. Not enough to keep me from buying the set. Like many, I hope for a restored UOT someday to go along with the SE's. This is all we get right now.

For others, the "no" change was just the straw that broke the camel's back. They probably disliked some or all of the past changes since '97 but not enough to avoid buying the set. This change, on top of those, sent them over the edge, so to speak. I doubt you'll find anyone that completely liked the 2004 SE and was sent over the edge by this one change. I've seen some in here trying to insinuate that there are people not buying the set over one word. That's not quite accurate. As I said, for that group, it was just the straw that broke the camel's back. They found their limit on what changes they could like or tolerate and that change did it for them.

People have expressed their hatred of the Han/Greedo change for years. I don't think it's a coincidence that it's been worked on three times. People expressed their dislike of Luke's wimpy scream while falling in Cloud City. It disappeared in 2004. People are venting and probably also hoping that expressing widespread dislike could make a difference to him someday. It worked in getting that half-assed 2006 UOT release. Not much but something.

Absolutely! I am thrilled there was a leak, saved me 60 bucks...lol. (still buying the PT though). I didn't make the decision based on the "Nooo!" though. I want to be clear on that. I cancelled because I hear (and have since seen) they did very little to fix the color issues. Its why this forum is invaluable (once your get past the wieght of lightsabers and PT/OT hate stuff). Glad the Mods have suspended people from time to time (including me..lol) to keep us on topic.

Oh I definitely agree.

Some people take it too personally and it ends up being like a political debate, where one side gets so mad at the other they start intentionally pulling even further away from middle ground in spite of the other side, just to be willfully obtuse.

Middle ground is within everyone's grasp, but it's hard to find it when there are extremists on either side and landmines in the middle.
