Ok. But never the less impressive work! His CG looks better than Lucasfilms!

And actually like the shot where he has added the stars to back of Vader.

Whether you actually read that or just made it up, either way it's a complete load.

1. The script has no such lines in it.
2. Why would the track be unusable, and if so why wouldn't they simply re-record it?
3. If all else fails, why did it take three decades to add it?
4. If it was so important, why is it just two older JEJ lines being reused?

Agreed, it does look very good and actually addresses the issues most people have (colour timing and lightsaber colours) with ESB
(and the other OT movies ).

Oh well, not too long now before we can all confirm what Lucasfilm has in store for us (mostly curious for PQ and AQ, plus changes to the PT).

I think most of us here would be happy with the quality of the current video material sans those newly added elements.

I'm sticking to this because in the subject of restoration there are people who prefer only the removal of the film damage, maybe some color correction and there are those who would go all the way and love to see what can be achieved with for example the removal of noticeable matte elements. Seeing what an active community Star Wars has, even this would spark hot debates from fans, previously united under the Give us the UOT! banner.

George Lucas stated that this would be a huge financial undertaking. I 'm not one of those fans who are searching his pocket with both hands, but seeing the amount of cash that has been and will be spent on these three films alone from consumers around the world... it's hard to believe that he can't do it.

My dream set would be:

Theatrical Editions of IV-VI (only changes would be picture and sound quality improvements)
Star Wars Holiday Special 1978 (Yeah it's awful but it's a piece of Star Wars history and should be released)
Deleted Scenes - All of them
Original tailers, promo material, etc
Every commentary recorded + new ones of course. Harrison Ford especially.
Every Star Wars documentary about the OT and making of, interview, casting etc from 1976-2011. The whole Lucas Archive.

If they were feeling generous they could throw in the 2 live action Ewok movies and the 80's droid and ewok animated series and The Great Heep.

I can feel the saliva coming out of my mouth as i dream of this day.

Come over the laserdisc thread and you'll get more detailed advice from the experts there.
Thanks. Do all home copies have "Episode IV" in the crawl?

Yes. If you want just "Star Wars" in the opening crawl you need to pick up the 2006 limited edition dvd.

SW has only "Star Wars" in the opening crawl on the LE DVDs. TESB & ROTJ have "Episode V" & "Episode VI" in the opening crawl.

It was never meant to be. Revisited isn't a series of restorations. They're "special editions" if you will.

Incorrect. The only place to find that is on the documentary.

The "bonus discs" have the laserdisc masters which DEFINITELY had Episode 4 in it.

I own the 2006 LE DVDs and it does not have the Episode IV crawl. I'll post a screenshot. Wait a minute.

Edit: Here you go.

This is the only change that they did for the LE Discs. They removed Episode IV from the crawl.

Wrong. That was a selling point of the DVDs. Something along the lines of owning them as they originally played in the theaters in '77, '80, and '83.

No need to apologize BTW, which laserdisc master did they use for the LE DVDs? Was it the '93 or '95 master?

There is no 95 master. There was only the 93 that they re-used for the 95 (and the 2006 dvd's).

I watched The Phantom Menace BD just now. I thought the PQ was excellent in some parts, but inconsistent in others. The CGI is mostly very sharp & detailed, but in some scenes, live elements, actors in particular, are softer, making the CGI so obvious it becomes distracting. I thought Jar Jar Binks sticks out as an eyesore now even more than I ever remember.

AQ was superb. The Pod Race scene on loud volume, wow, what an insanely agressive soundtrack. Spectacular low end.

I really appreciate your answer to this question.

Thanks!
I've got good news for you. Atleast on the North European set, all extras are subitled in English. I can't guarantee the same applies for the US set, but it won't surprise me if the disc contents are identical.

All commentaries (two for each movie) are subtitled in English as well as the other languages that have subtitles in the movie.

Interestingly, the commentaries actually each have two different English subtitle tracks, one track that subtitles the speech, and one track that identifies the various participants. Kind of odd they couldn't just combine the two (as the names are displayed on top of the screen) but that's how it is.

All three bonus discs have English subtitles.

Hope that helps!

Which scenes in particular were excellent and inconsistent? did you notice any changes (except some cleaned up effects and the CGI Yoda)

Have you watched episode 2 and 3 yet?
