I agree with you that Yoda will eventually be replaced in the OT. It is just a matter of time and that just sucks.
Repeat after me everyone; HE'S NOT GOING TO REPLACE YODA IN THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY!

Thank you.

That's true. Lucas likes the puppet Yoda in Empire and Jedi and will leave it alone. Can't remember where I heard it, I think it was from one of the DVD commentaries.

So we have new pointless rocks in one shot, but not in another. Brilliant!

He's had the last 15 years to replace Yoda in the Original Trilogy and still hasn't done it.

Now, why do you think that is? aiman is correct. In either the Episode I documentary or somewhere in the Episode II supplements, it's mentioned that Lucas likes the puppet look for the Original Trilogy because it fits the character at that time in the story...and he loves Oz's work during that time.

It's the Prequels where he wanted all digital because Yoda a younger character during that time...and Oz agreed with his assessment. They just didn't have the tech to do it in Episode I.

He's not going to change Yoda in the Original Trilogy...EVER.

And if he did, as a "Lucas apologist", I'd even be done with him.

He had the last 15 years to add "Noooooooooooooooooooooooo" in the ROTJ, and he did this now. Not in 1997. Not in 2004, but now. Why? Just because he can. So who knows what "brilliant" ideas will come to his mind in a next few years?

Everything is possible in my opinion.

Apparently technological limitations at the time prevented him from creating his original vision. But now, recent advances in technology have finally made his vision complete.

I hope one day he does replace the puppet.

I'll probably be shot down for this but I find the puppet hilariously fake and would celebrate the day it becomes CGI.

Because you work at Lucasfilm? How do you know it hasn't been discussed already and dropped?

Wow, people here really need to chill. So what if there are a few minor changes made. I actually kind of like the new obi wan call sound and the Vader "no".

I'm not a giant Star wars fan, but I do like the movies. I was too young to enjoy the old trilogy in the theaters, but I did see the prequels in the theater and I did enjoyed them.

I'm going to buy this set and enjoy these movies in glorious HD.

And remember, there are far to many things in life that require more attention, then *****ing about little minor things that were changed in a movie.

In the end, these movies were made by Lucas, he can do what he wants with them. No one is forcing you to buy this!

Not really, he simply went and retro EMO'ed Vader to fit his character as redone in the Prequels. 2004 was too early, because the "Noooo" hadn't been shot yer for Sith.

And I think frankly that the work involved in CG'ing Yoda in Empire would be colossal in terms of cost: they'd have to rotoscope out everything, and even then the interactions with items between Yoda, Luke and R2 would never look right.

Sure is. Alec Guinness looks like Zero Mostel, Peter Cushing looks like the "Where's the fish?" character out of Monty Python's "Meaning of Life", Luke looks like Helen Reddy, and Leia looks both disturbed and damned disturbing.

Overall, the artwork I've seen on this release is horrid, and I feel well outside the demographic it appears to be targeted at.
