Can anybody who has these movies on the discs verify whether the THX Optimizer is present?

I'll put a clip up on YT.

Damn, they should have put a digital rock there to remove film grain. That would have worked so well here.

Maybe Lucas should have had R2D2 scream"no.......noooooooooooo" so you wouldn't notice the exaggerated grain (or the rock for that matter).....

Unfortunately too many will buy anything star wars related, even if Lucas has butchered it.

They didn't have the technology in 1983, 1997, and 2004 to have Vader say "no" a couple of times in Return of the Jedi? Whatever.

I really want as close to the originals as I can get. Am I better off just trying to get the DVDs and not the Bluray since Lucas has pretty much destroyed them? Does anyone know how the DVDs looked upscale on the Oppo 93?

Are you positive? Did you check through all of the submenus? That sucks, if it doesn't have that. They should've made a brand new blu-ray THX Optimizer specifically for this release, so that you truly know that you are seeing and hearing exactly what Geoge Lucas intended.

Again, it depends on the size of your tv. Remember, they are "non anamorphic" dvd's so you have to stretch them to fit. Unless you would like them to look like a postage stamp in the middle of your screen.

From most accounts, it would appear that some of the changes are "curious" etc, and although they are obviously not embraced by a lot of people, the preliminary reports regarding the transfer (audio and video) of this set on Blu-ray is WONDERFUL.

I think you'd be sacrificing a lot to get the DVD versions. Why not buy both? The DVDs will be very cheap on the used market I'm sure, and you'd only need to buy the original trilogy on DVD

I agree!! I love all the THX trailers before the movie starts! I don't understand why can't they put it at the start anymore, it's on the back of Avatar as well. The only blu-rays I know to have it play at the start are Terminator 2 and Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, though the latter is lossy.

Have you seen the Attack of the Clones blu-ray yet? How's the PQ/AQ? Can't wait to hear the sound of the seimic charges spread through the room in lossless!

My TV is 46inch but yeah I get what you guys are saying. I wouldn’t mind having both and yes I would only what the original trilogy as far as the DVDs go.

Yes, I am going to ***** and moan about the changes, the non fixes and all but I will keep my 06 dvd's and STILL buy the Blu's. I just can't pass up on the pseudo upgrade on the video and the huge upgrade on the sound. These movies should sound amazing!

I think he was mainly talking about why the original trilogy gets changed to fit with the prequels, and not the other way around. He wasn't talking about the Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. BTW, to me, it doesn't work mostly because he sounds more like he's regretting what he's about to do.

Oh, cause his post was in response to someone who was talking about the added double "no."

They are not there. I don't have the US set though, but I doubt it'll be any different.

Yes, I watched episode I, II, III and IV today. PQ/AQ is excellent on AOTC, I'd say a couple of steps up from TPM on both fronts, particularly PQ.

I am not sure curious is the word I would use to describe what was done to ROTJ, more like sh!t. I have no doubts it will look decent and sound amazing, but its just if everybody keeps buying this crap, there will never be the UOT in hd on blu.

That's what I try to stay focused on, the overall detail of the picture, and the DTS-HD MA 6.1 discreet audio. I am positive that on the technical merits, this will be the best Star Wars has ever looked and sounded.

I just try to block out Obi Wan's Ric Flair-esque cartoon scream, and the baseball bat up side the head exposition of the Vader double NO.
