I never feel bad. I stand my ground. i never even saw the originals until after the prequels. might have something to do with it. i also had a super crush on christensen at the time.

lol! No, there is another. I've been a fan of SW since the summer of '77 when I first saw ANH in a theater, but it wasn't until '99 that I fell in love with SW with TPM, and it just got better and better with AOTC, ROTS, and TCW. And, yes, ROTS was awesome!

It seems that the star rating on Amazon for this set has finally averaged out to only Two Stars out of Five.

Two out of Five. Insane!

It hurts me to see this happening, but I think it's well deserved. Just what the hell is wrong with George? Guy's lost his soul.

And what does Amazon think of all this? This is supposed to be a big seller for them, and the rating has hit the bottom of the barrel. Even if sales are affected, in the long run it'll sell like hot cakes.

unfortunately for all of you, this will have little effect. The number of people who post reviews is minimal.

I think the set will be a big seller anyway.

But let's be honest here, the people who hate the changes will always be far more vocal than the people who don't,for example if you recieve bad service from somewhere you will tell lots of people, wheras if you are happy you will not make as much of a fuss.

And I would bet most people rating the set on Amazon have not even received it yet,so their ratings are of little importance anyway.

Well, I've said this before, but it bears repeating: I like all of the "Star Wars" films, albeit for different reasons. Yes, there's some things I'd prefer were different in each one, but they're still among the best films ever made. Here's some of my fave moments...

Episode I - The Phantom Menace

1) Jar Jar. Yes, I like him, and yes, I said it. He's a funny, goofy, childlike character, and every time I see him I either smile or laugh. My fave scene with him was probably when he's fighting with his brethren against the Trade Federation droids.

2) Watto (a.k.a. "the most pompous junk trader in the galaxy"). I really liked how Andy Secombe and the animators brought that character to life. Its so easy to forget that he's not actually present in the scenes. Liam Neeson really helped sell his side of that situation, too.

3) Padme's first meeting with Anakin. He comes across as so innocent, comparing her to angels, and when she talks to him on board the Noobian ship, you really get a sense of a strong connection between them.

4) Darth Maul. C'mon, who didn't get a kick watching Ray Park fight two Jedi at the same time? Easily one of the best lightsaber battles in the saga.

5) Coruscant. All the scenery, the landscapes, the Senate chamber, the Jedi Temple...so much of it was designed brilliantly.

Episode II - Attack of the Clones

1) Yoda finally having his own swordfight. Seeing him go at Dooku was almost perfect.

2) "Across the Stars". That music just stays in my head, every time I hear it. In my opinion, its right up there with the "Imperial March" and "Throne Room" tracks. John Williams does it again!

3) Obi-Wan's visit with the Kaminoans, and his rainstorm fight with Jango Fett. Another great battle that wasn't dependent on a lightsaber.

4) The love story between Padme and Anakin (no, I'm not kidding). I think both Natalie and Hayden sold it very well, especially in the fireplace scene.

5)The arena battle. Hundreds of Jedi vs. tons of droids, Mace takes out Jango, and the Clones stage an all-out attack beyond the arena walls. Excellent stuff.

Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

1) The opening space battle. From the moment Obi-Wan and Anakin's fighters enter the frame, to their boarding of Grevious' ship...probably the most detailed and epic of all the dogfights in the saga. They even threw the kitchen sink into the mix (literally).

2) The friendly banter between Anakin & Obi-Wan. I really liked seeing them as strong friends; it makes the ending of the film much more effective.

3) Grevious vs. Obi-Wan. Multiple lightsabers, cycles vs. dragons, another great fistfight...what's not to love?

4) Mace vs. Palpatine. Jackson and McDiarmid did incredible work with those segments.

5) Vader vs. Obi-Wan...oh c'mon, you really thought I wasn't going to include it? The whole sequence screams "clash of the titans".

Episode IV - A New Hope

1) Luke first ignites his father's lightsaber. Wonderful moment, and Alec's speech only improves it.

2) Han runs into a room full of stormtroopers. One of the funniest scenes in the film.

3) Luke and Leia swing across the chasm. Need I say more?

4) The Death Star Trench Run. "Just like Beggar's Canyon back home."

5) The throne room. Wonderful music, heroic sendoff...it still works after so many years.

Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

1) Rebels vs. Walkers. Adventure of the best sort.

2) Leia kisses Luke to irritate Han. Mark's reaction is priceless!

3) Yoda talking to Obi-Wan' spirit. "You are reckless!" "So was I, if you'll remember." "He is too old!"

4) Luke vs. Vader on Bespin, including the "revelation scene".

5) Threepio interrupts Han & Leia ("I fixed the reverse power coupling!")

Episode VI - Return of the Jedi

1) Leia's first meeting with Wicket.

2) Salacious Crumb examines Jabba's tail like its lunch.

3) The entire "Sarlaac Pit" sequence.

4) The speeder bike chase.

5) Luke sees his father without the mask.

Reading various home theater and movie forums this morning, people are really angry about what's been done. I keep hearing the chorus of "cancelling pre-orders" left and right on almost every forum.

I figured this would've died down a bit but I guess I underestimated the love of the theatrical cuts and the hatred towards Lucas.

Hell, maybe he did cross the line I haven't come to terms with it.

I'm still in for the set on the 16th but man, I feel like my legs are a bit wobbly about this. I mean, do the films really need a rescan, considering I think the screencaps look pretty damn great?

I mean, there are people who are completely BENT about what's transpired. I've honestly never seen anything like this!

I just compared the original and the altered emperor's death scene...
the original version is much more powerful.
This is pathetic.

Here's a good YouTube comment with which I completely agree >>>

Quote:
Honestly this has to be a joke. Darth Vader's silence is why this scene was so powerful because it made it completely unexpected and you had no idea what he was thinking. Now they add some lines that not only sound incredibly derp end of Revenge of the Sith style, but warn the viewer in what he's about to do which ruins the shock factor. Oh well...at least it gave me a good laugh.

Well I've had a few days to dwell on it. I did not cancel any pre-orders as I never had a pre-order to begin with.

I saw Star Wars in 1977 in the Coronet Theater in San Francisco. Back then 70 mm 6 track Dolby was a big deal.

You are not gonna get any argument from me that these films are gonna look better on Blu-ray than the DVD counterpart, just on detail alone.

I even gritted my teeth with the wonky changes to the Special Editions. Greedo shooting first, Jedi Rocks.

Then there were more changes to 2004, Young Anakin replacing old. Yeah I can see Lucas's logic, but no it was a change I totally disliked as well as well. Then, bad montage, Celtic Thunder replacing Yub Yub Now we have even more changes.

Look even if he took the theatricals and did nothing but restore them, left the effects as they were. Even left the sabers I'd be fine. But he's been adding things that don't need adding and not fixing what fans have always noticed were things that needed to be corrected ("since you're gonna correct something, how about those sabers?")

The movies were technically brilliant for their time, yes even the prequels. It still does not change my opinion that the prequels suck. These discs will probably be technically great, it still does not change the fact that content has been changed too much for me.

Yeah, some people are buying it cuz they want Star Wars in 1080 with lossless sound, but if I get no joy in actually watching the movie, the whiz bang doesn't amount to anything.

Yeh - since this is the main reason everyone is boycotting this release, it really makes Lucas look like an idiot for putting it in - surely he would know in his mind that this would cause a MASSIVE backlash - more than ANY change he has made previously. I mean I'm sure he remembers all the negative feedback from ROTS 'noooooo'.

The second closest hated change to the OT (other than this) - Anikan ghost - you can actually make valid reasons for doing it. It's not like the scene is totally 100% 'ruined' because of it - it's just 'different'. Some may like it, some won't. It's all to do with tying in with the PT, we get it George.

This change however, TRULY feels like Lucas is just trolling all of us. Making Vader say noo achieves absolutely NOTHING except destroying the power of the scene. Maybe he doesn't care about revenue any more and just wants to piss off the fans. I'd say this change will/has caused at least 10-15% less sales overall.

Yeah, I have also noticed that these latest changes to the Original Trilogy (especially Vader's "Nooo!") has given birth to alot of hatred and cancelling orders, and I honestly don't blame them, since I myself decided not to buy this coming blu-ray-set.
And I admit, I feel sad for this, because I was so prepared to watch Star Wars-saga on full hd, but I guess I have to get them from somewhere else...

Of course there is still a possibility that I could buy separate Prequel Trilogy blu-ray, since I haven't heard that Lucas would had made them any worse. And I myself am happy that they changed Yoda in Phantom Menace to GCI. But it kinda feels wrong to me to just buy Prequel Trilogy, since Original Trilogy is the main point.

The boycott will achieve nothing. Those who were against the special editions were just looking for any excuse not to buy which is quite sad really.

Fans like myself have accepted these changes, no matter how stupid just so we can enjoy the whole saga in glorious HD. I will double dip if an ultimate collection comes out with all versions and complete extras (i.e. all deleted scenes) but until then, I'm just going to enjoy what should be the best of Blu-ray.

Same here, I am still buying it just to see all the films in 1080p and lossless 6.1. But with the amount of 1-star reviews on Amazon alone, it will surely reduce sales.

Those customer reviews are a joke. Amazon should really remove all of them considering the set hasn't come out yet. And I imagine most people will read about two sentences of one of the reviews say "The hell? Get a life." and click the "Add to Shopping Cart" button.

As much as I understand the boycott, it won't do a damn thing. Look.. everybody has been waiting for these films on blu-ray since the format came out. Even if Lucas is raping the original theatrical films by adding all of this nonsense, people are going to buy it because it's all that's available at this point.
We probably won't see the original theatrical trilogy in HD until Lucas dies or retires and somebody takes over that has half a brain. So, for now.. this is what we've got. Three movies that sort of resemble something we grew up with and loved but aren't quite right.
The newer changes aren't that major. The Vader "Noooooooo" in Jedi is dumb, sure. I think them previously adding in Hayden Christensen into Jedi was a bigger f-you to the fans.. as was Greedo shooting first in the first film.

I was thinking that the other day. Not that I actually want it but I'd take another one of George's prequels any day over other sequel/prequels:

- SAW II, SAW III, SAW IV, SAW V, SAW VI, and SAW 3D
- ALIEN VS PREDATOR, and ALIENS VS PREDATOR: REQUIEM
- TERMINATOR SALVATION
- INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL
- LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD
- FINAL DESTINATION 2, FINAL DESTINATION 3, THE FINAL DESTINATION, and FINAL DESTINATION 5
- SPIDER-MAN 3
- THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING
- 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS, TOKYO DRIFT, FAST AND FURIOUS, and FAST 5

I don't need to go on - but, all these sequels and prequels that are getting released these days are useless. Whilst I'm not particularly a fan of the Star Wars prequels, I would take them any day over all that shit!
