It would have shown that the Sandpeople while nomadic, were not complete barbarians. I mean if they were, why wouldn't they simply eradicate them from the planet completely.

I just think it was a corner that Lucas could not write himself out of when it came to AOTC. Maybe the settlers came into a land dispute with the Tuskens and decided to take some of their property and Schmi's capture was just a revenge thing for taking their property. I dunno.
That was not included in the script, so it could not have made it into the movie unless someone else had written it.

That scene you're referring to with Cliegg and other Moisture Farmers going to rescue Shmi is from the novel of Attack of the Clones.

Not The Phantom Menace. You just have your movies and novels mixed up.

Sorry, gotcha. I know it was in one of the books..... That whole part was left out of the movie and it is a shame.

The scene where Cleigg Lars talks about riders going out to find Anakin's mother are in the Attack of the Clones movie, I can't comment on the book but it would be a pretty superfluous scene in the movie.

Yeah, it's defiantly not necessary for the movie to devote screentime to that stuff.

It's a decent scene in the novel though, but then some things work better on the page than they do on film.

Yeah, that sucks. As far as I know, BD releases mostly have the English sound track in lossless, and the German dub is lossy, as opposed to DVDs.

Good call on ordering the U.S. set. That's what I am getting as well.

WOW!! Where did you find this? That's awesome!!

Super excited to seeing the PT on BD!!! TPM is going to look and sound incredible, even better than in the theater over 11 years ago.

Has the "green lightsaber" thing ever been cleared up? I dug up my digital TV recordings of the 1997 SE and there's no green to be found. The saber changes between very light blue and white between shots.

This is from the UOT, you can see that its about Luke and not Vader.

Here the new one to make it about vader

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKbzw...eature=related

Bad plot holes!
You missed my point. How could the prequels be about anything but Vader? Luke wasn't born yet. I suppose they could have been about Luke as a kid working on the farm, but that would have been pretty boring. Or, they could have been about the early years of Han Solo, but that really wouldn't have been a prequel to the OT story arc.

And the videos you posted prove nothing. Actually, it's an improvement because it covers up a big plot hole in the ORIGINAL. In the original, the emperor mentions "Luke Skywalker" and Vader has no reaction. Why doesn't he say, "yes, I know...he's my son" or why doesn't the Emperor already know this? The only rationale might be that "Skywalker" is a very common name, like Smith or Jones or Patel, in that galaxy. That's the reason Luke's name was taken out, not because the complete story arc is now about Anakin/Vader.

Many people are complaining that Lucas has changed the OT to make it better match the PQ. I barely see that at all (aside from adding Hayden to the end of ROTJ). I was always shocked by the inconsistencies in the OT and the PT that could have been better written around in the PT, although some would have been difficult.

Here are just a few which always bothered me. I'm sure the Star Wars geeks can find a ton more:
Episode III: If anger and fear leads to the dark side, why does Yoda look so angry in each of his “fights”? Why does Obi Wan smile when he kills all the droids in the elevator?

Episode III: If the Jedi can feel changes in the Force, how come they don’t know that Palpatine is the Sith Lord?

Episode III: Why does Darth swear his allegiance to the Emperor even after Padame dies? The biggest reason for turning to the dark side was to save her life.

Episode III: In an early scene, the Sith Lord already looks like he has the effects of the electrical charges that deform his face later in the film.

Episode III and later: If Chewbacca works with Yoda to fight the Empire, how come this role is never mentioned in Episodes IV-VI? If Obi Wan knows Chewbacca from 20 years before (although Chewbacca only meets with Yoda in the film), does this mean that Chewbacca is hiding his role in the battles from Han?

Episode IV: What purpose does Obi Wan’s “suicide” serve? He doesn’t become “more powerful” as he tells Darth Vader he would be.

Episode IV: Vader tells Obi Wan, “You shouldn’t have come”. Why doesn’t he say, “where have you been for the last 20 years” or “I’m going to kill you for almost burning me to death”?

Episode IV: What is Darth Vader’s motivation for his actions? It’s never expressed. It can’t be to oppose the Jedi or Obi Wan because Obi Wan has been in hiding for at least 20 years and there are no other Jedi, except for Yoda, who isn’t mentioned in Ep IV. Is it to bring order to the Empire? But the only disorder is a small band of rebels. Why does this small band of rebels require the construction of the Death Star?

Episode IV: How does Obi Wan Kenobi know that Darth Vader was Anakin Skywalker? Same for Yoda in Ep V. At the end of Ep III, he thinks Anakin is dead.

Episode V and VI: In Ep V, Yoda insists that Luke not help his friends, but complete his Jedi training instead. Yet when Luke returns in Ep VI to complete his training, Yoda tells him that his training is complete.

Episode VI: Chewbacca tells the blind Han Solo that Luke is now a Jedi Knight. But later in the episode, Yoda first informs Luke that he is a Jedi.

Episode VI: Leia tells Luke she remembers her mother, but in episode III, Padame dies in childbirth.

It also didn't make sense to me that Anakin was always such an unwilling pupil of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, but such a willing pupil of Palpatine. And there are tons more.

The worst example was when he was in the elevator with Anakin talking about falling into a pit of gundarks or something.

God help us, this will be much, much worse than any pink lightsabre in high definition.

Fake beard and wig

Attachment 36514

Real beard

Attachment 36515

Just dreadful for a multi million pound film.

Because he's a broken man at the point. He's lost everything, including his physical self. He's no match for the Emperor. He's nothing. What else can he do but go forward?

And all of that changes with the emergence of Luke Skywalker...which is the reason for Vader's switch into destroying the Emperor in the Empire Strikes Back. The emergence of his son has brought some life back into that machine body...

Yeah, the pickup shots with Ewan in Episode II were obvious as well. Did they glue pubes to his face or something? I get the need for a wig since he'd been filming Black Hawk Down(although a better wig could've been found), but that's the best they could do for the beard?

Episode II isn't the only high-profile movie that has had problems with that. Aragorn's fake beard is painfully obvious during the coronation scene in Return of the King, too.

I disagree. TPM could have been revised in less than a half hour, AOTC about two hours, and ROTS about two also. It can take less than eight hours to write a season of 24. There were plenty of opportunities there...

Um, we might have some problems with the Episode I transfer. Some screencaps of Episode I have shown up over at avsforum and I gotta admit, besides the Yoda and Mace Windu shot, the transfer (if a real leak) doesn't look good.

Not Predator Ultimate Edition bad but it's knocking at the door....

Obi-Wan watches Anakin becoming Darth Vader, after he defeats Anakin it wouldn't make much sense for Palpatine to dub someone else Darth Vader....
