Well some of that looks bad, not horrible, but pretty bad. On the other hand, some of it looks amazing. Although, I'll have to wait until I have the actual blu ray before I can really decide anything. It doesn't look anywhere near as bad as Predator and after seeing a bunch of screenshots I'm not really worried about it.

Gotta admit, I'm pretty psyched about Episode III. All signs point to a spectacular disc.

Question:

Is the U.S packaging better than the U.K one--or vice versa???

If you can get past the smooth look and almost complete lack of grain however, the detail is exceptional! The second picture with Qui Gonn, you can even see the glue line holding on his wig on the left LOL. I can get past them, and can't chuffin' wait to see all the films on my theatre set up
Liam needing is actually naturally free of facial imperfections.

Lucas definitely does what he does not just to make everything flow together better by look, feel, and tone, but he does it so he can keep his franchise going. He's kind of beating a dead horse here because Star Wars is most definitely well established enough that it can pretty much live on forever as is, but I don't think it's terrible that he's making these films appeal more to children. Back in my day, I was content enough with the lightsabers and the Rancor and seeing Boba Fett and whatever... but sadly, today's generation needs a bit more. Although I'm kinda peeved that Lucas doesn't provide the ORIGINAL originals for us who have watched this since before they were altered, I'm glad that it's more appealing to the younger generations now. Last thing I want to do really is sit my kid down in front of A New Hope and have him tell me it's boring because there's nto enough goofy shit to look at on the screen.

Just my opinion, though.
If the originals were good enough for kids in '77, '81, '83, then they're good enough for today's generation. And if today's kid is bored by SW, an asinine shout of "nooooo!" isn't going to make him jump and yell "this is the best movie ever!" Who knows, maybe in future editions the Emperor will shoot bolts of cotton candy instead of lightning...

Lucas may think it's Star Wars, but it's no longer Star Wars: It's a caricature of Star Wars. Like Bill Hunt said, it's more like Joan Rivers after all the plastic surgeries.

For those of us in Canada, the best price I have seen for this set is $79.99 available to pre-order on bestbuy.ca. Any fellow Canadians that know of a better price?

Merlinpants, that is so bizarre on those screen shots you posted. The facial shots are dnr'd to death and the city shots are just amazing.

Why would lucasfilm do this?

I wish that were true! Look at picture #5, loads of wrinkles around the eye area that are magically gone in the other shots of him. He probably isn't complaining though.

With the Blu-ray release just 10 days away, I'm sure there are lots of new readers to this thread. Readers that may have skipped past older messages and missed my earlier post that linked this bit of fine entertainment:

In my opinion, one of the funniest things to ever air on television!

I must admit my memory of TPM isn't that good; is it indeed a difference or just two different but similar-looking frames?
I like the new shot! They also made the viewscreen more "viewscreenish", if that makes sense.

I don't think they did, but somewhere in the process it has happened and the '3 levels of quality control' have missed it.

Again, still shots, one frame and they don't really bother me. It certainly won't stop my enjoyment of the films as that is after all, all that they are.

The good thing about Best Buy and Future Shop is they both offer within 30 days of purchase they will match any lower price. That may well come in handy for us in this instance.
