There were some posted yesterday by someone here. I'll see if I can find which page they were on as this thread moves way too fast!

+1. I've always wondered if Leia Brackett came up with the Obi-Wan ghost idea as Lucas never noted it in any writings before Bracketts draft. I have the starlog articles with the Kasdan interviews and it mentions some of this. (maybe issues 49, 50, or 51) I think.

On bonus disc one and two, most of the extras are in a window surrounded by a border/menu graphics.

On bonus disc three, the extras do not have a border. Most of is, however, in 4:3 (1.33:1).

Hello I have a question for CRS:

Does the Droid control ship sequence from the deleted scenes of AOTC look like crap with blue screen, or does it include special effects?

Thank you very much in advance!

Liam needing? I assume you meant Neeson, which makes you king of phonetic brain fades for the day. But be aware I am still the Master....

I must say I'm look forward to the next Blu-ray release hopefully the DNR applied to the movies disappear altogether!

Where would you guys rank this release? It doesn't seem to be Predator bad, Terminator 2 Judgement Day bad? I guess I've been able to live with that one.

We need someone to devise some kind of scale of DNR Richter Scale, we could call it a Shitpicture Scale but that might offend people who like a bit of the blurred stuff. It would kind of be like the opposite of Bear Goggles instead of a person become more attractive with alcohol they picture gets worse....

Liam's beard is looking like five pints of Guiness at the moment....

What's interesting about some of the shots of TPM that show the DNR... you actually see more detail.

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison.php?id=78492

This Padme shot being especially telling. Look at her hair... on the HDTV version... it kinda blends together and is kinda "fuzzy". But even though the Blu-ray shot shows some DNR, you can actually see the individual hairs on her head.

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison.php?id=78493

Same with Mace here... where you can clearly see the lines in his forehead on the Blu-Ray version. And the individual hairs that make up his eyebrows on the Blu-Ray image. Where as they sort of blend together on the HDTV shot.

Sure there are some images, like the infamous "Qui-Gon Shot", that look a bit off. But that shot looked bad originally anyway.

I'm thinking it's very much in keeping with the careful de-graining that was done for Aliens. Which makes me happy.

Thanks for the reply crs. That was pretty much how I figured things would play out.

Judging from the posted screen caps of AOTC and ROTS I am slightly underwhelmed. Yeah, they look good, but they're not crystal clear as they should be since they were shot digitally in 1080p.

Why would they do that with the border/menu graphics?

So film grain is bad, but digital video noise is fine? I guess I shouldn't complain, DNR is DNR. The less of it we get, the better.

"This deal is getting worse all the time!"

*waits for next round of bad news*
Take a look at this before you complain:

There isn't much else he could have done here. and he definitely got the best out of it as you can see from the atrocious HDTV screenshot

So it's apparently not fair to judge the discs from stills when complaining, but it's okay when praising?

I have no doubt there will be scenes that look amazing...but that doesn't excuse some of the other shots we've seen so far. Life sure is sweet and sour.

They must be near to selling out their allocated run then?
I don't get this when did this become a "limited release"?

I'm trying to reserve judgement until the actual blu rays are in my hands. I dont want to download the leaks either because I don't want to spoil anything. But so far, based on the screens I've seen, TPM looks the worst and the other 5 look really good. So besides the changes and whatnot, I'm still pretty excited for this release.

On a side note, this might seem like a dumb question, and it probably is, but I just bought the widescreen OUT on VHS and wanted to transfer it to dvd. But my VCR only has one audio out. So, are all VHS tapes mono?
