How does wearing less equal genuine maturity?

Yes, most blu-rays do not contain a calibration option, but this seemed like a good opportunity to me to include one. It's the THX guys after all.

The one with Jedi director Richard Marquand on the card. Well, this time with Yoda.

Here's the right one:

I decided to go through the UOT before the blu-ray comes out. Just finished watching Star Wars (before it was called "A New Hope"). It's still a great movie. It's fun to make fun of the fighter pilots at the end...especially Porkins and that other fat dude who says "watch for enemy fighters."

Plus, I think its the only time in the whole saga we see a woman in something that revealing, so its inconsistent as well.
Did you forget the see through number the 1st slave girl wore??? The 1st slave before she got sent to the Rancor had a much more revealing outfit even if it was only in brief glimpses.

If he covers the slave girl outfit, Lucas would have to take back that Leia slave girl small-scale replica he gave to Carrie Fisher. Complete with bare butt and removable metal bra. That, or send her a shirt to put over it.

I've never noticed it. I've heard rumors and such over recent years, but whenever I watch the film, nothing else catches my eye in negative terms.

That's the beauty of a good calibration disc. You don't have to recalibrate your calibration movie to movie, if it's accurate.

I hold a special place in my heart for the brothers we've lost tonight.

I just recalculated, if I pick this up at a midnight sale, I can have this in less than 215 hours. Apparently, the Europeans will have it four days sooner.

Would you all still buy the OT on Blu-Ray, or would all hell break lose??
This is a really, really great question. It basically highlights the slippery slope aspect of revisionism.

As ridiculous as a digital top for Leia sounds, I never thought Lucas would do something as ridiculous as messing with the climax of ROTJ.

As for the inappropriateness of Leia's bikini, I am flabbergasted... what about this:

(WARNING: THIS IS THE LITTLE MERMAID)
http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3991968000/tt0097757

or this:

(WARNING: THIS IS JASMINE FROM ALADDIN)
http://www.imdb.com/media/rm93427968/tt0103639

Anyways, all hell would break loose, and many people would buy the OT anyway.

You do realize that the original 3 Star Wars films came out in a different time, when there was no PG-13 and PG could be pretty close to R sometimes.

PG was for everybody, in a way PG-13 is now. PG-13 can have nudity, though most opt not to include anything other than a brief shot.

PG was not intended for children only, as the rating has come to imply nowadays. in fact, even G was for non-family films. Actually, all but one or two of the original and sometimes violent Planet of Apes films was G. And two of these G rated POTA, Beneath and Escape ended with all the characters dying at the end. Funny thing was, while they were NOT intended as family films, people just assumed they were.

The original films, btw, are not directly family films. They are broad and for everyone. Lucas did have considerations in making the original Star Wars. But clearly, not too much as he had a severed arm spewing blood. And later, Anikin slices heads off and of course, kills children off screen and burnt to a crisp on screen. He did go back and make some alterations with kids in mind, like some of the additions and some of the removals (though one of them I think was a bit too "sheltered-minded").

The Phantom Menace is the exception. Return of the Jedi to a degree, but only really the Ewoks, and some of the creatures in Jabba's Palace, and now, obviously, the dance number.

But fantasy is such a youthful and imaginitive concept, that it usually is considered juvenile to many, despite the various age appeals distinct to each franchise. The same goes to children's attentive nature to it. Of course, children pick up on the creatures and the fantasy elements, but only as a result. But its not directly aimed for kids (minus TPM). Like some people automatically assume that because the character is named "Batman" it is made with children in mind. And they take their kids to see it, with no research and a lousy understanding of the PG-13 rating and the various age appeals of comic books, and get upset.

It's not like Star Wars is Passion of the Christ (which by the way, kids were allowed to watch a message because "it had a message" ) or Hatchet. There are some sexy elements to it, like Leia in a metal bikini, but it's not like it has sex scenes.

Thing is, it is NOT a filmmakers job to keep your kid's booby and profanity free. That is the parent's job.

And if a parent is really losing sleep because Star Wars had Han killing Greedo or Leia is wearing a bikini, you might be trying too hard to keep your kids sheltered, which has some dire effects on your kids life as they grow up, like social awkwardness. It's one thing to keep them away from movies like Saw or Black Swan and another to hide them from "necklines" and "laser hits."

Know of any US Midnite Sales? I would assume Best Buy would open at midnite for the box set?

I guess we'll never know, since it's not included, but I would think that a brand new blu-ray calibration disc would probably be more accurate than an old DVD version.

No, not at all. I'm too afraid that if I ordered this from Amazon or whatever online website, that it might arrive late, so I'm just picking it up at a local store; whichever one is the cheapest. In my area, Walmart and Target are 24 hour stores, and I'm sure Best Buy will have a midnight sale for this.

Yeah, I remember a scene between him and Spielberg, which went something like this...

GL: "I did "More American Graffiti", it made ten cents."
SS: "Really?"
GL: "Yeah, so you can overdo these kinds of things. It is possible."
I believe that conversation was with Frank Oz.
