WHAT?? since none of the good PT deleted scenes are being carried over, this was the one that made the complete set worth buying. I am sure the OT deleted scenes also will be great, but from what I've read, they haven't been restored at all. This makes me wonder if the Complete Box Set is worth getting at all!

That article was written to grab a headline. There is no way GL would say that, he has faced fans before asking these types of question with his normal restraint and decorum.

He probably said something to the effect of 'These are my films and I wanted to make things the way they should have been when I first imagined them'. He is far too much of a media manipulator to ever express anything like that.

Plus if he did, why are they the only people on the entire worldwide web to report it? This would be front page news around the world if true, especially off the back of all of the current Lucas bashing.

Got their crappy site a little bit of exposure and probably more hits than it has ever had as all the star wars badgers post a link to it in forums line this.

The problem with most angry internet haters (in general, not just this thread) is that they seem to only deal in absolutes. Something that's not completely perfect must therefore be utter garbage.
I think that shot looks fine as well. And I couldn't agree more with what I bolded.

I'm actually kind of shocked at the DNR on Phantom Menace. Really doesn't look like it should have AT ALL.

It might look the best its ever looked in the home - doesn't mean its good enough.

So far, based on screenshots the OT looks like I expected - decent, but not spectacular - certainly miles better than 'Candle Wax Menace'.

Clones looks fine - as expected. I'm sure Sith will be the best presentation of the prequels.

I'm still excited by the release, but it seems most of the set is anything but reference.
This is going to get 3.5 - 4 out of 5 for video across the saga from most reviewers at best. Not shabby, but not good enough for friggin Star Wars on blu-ray.

Sith may be the only one of the six that gets 5/5 from critics.

How many times are you going to watch deleted scenes?

I don't get it either.

Out-of-context deleted scenes bore me to tears, even for movies I really love. Sometimes it does more harm than good to my enjoyment of a favorite movie.

If they had the option for seamless branching to include the deleted scenes in the movie it would be a different story.

I have just finished Ep 1 and 2, Ep 3 is loading in the player now.

There are e few very short shots in TPM that are abit soft, but other than that PQ on TPM is awesome!
I noted the scene where the kids run to Anakin working on the Podracer, the last face shot of Qui Gonn in jedi temple, and Qui Gonn and Obi wans subsequent dialogue on the landing platform. Also when the Battledroids come out of the ships in the beginnig of swamp fights was a bit soft.

AOTC is fantastic, and expect ROTS will rock too. Well, back to the theater

I think that's why some people are disappointed with the bonus features, there was a perfect opportunity to have a rough cut of Star Wars with some kind of pop-up fact-track which would have blown everyone away. Like those real good nuts and bolts documentaries on YouTube.

They really went to town on the prequel DVD's, the documentaries were excellent and with Empire of Dreams we've been spoilt in the past. There doesn't seem to be anything comparable on this new set and not including the deleted scenes from the DVD's was a huge oversight.

Yeah if they aren't going to put them in the movie, they are irrelevant.

I think he's debating saga vs (cheaper) trilogy sets.

The supplements and the packaging are the only difference so if he doesn't care for the way a large part of supplements have been done...

I hope so. I really hope I'm pleasantly surprised. Yet based on the screenshots of Menace that are out there it looks like Gladiator all over again. Doesn't look like film. That bothers me immensely. It looks like video. Too clean. Too smooth.

I see this come up often. I'm wondering what some of you think those of us who complain about PQ actually want?

I won't speak for others, but I'm interested in "faithful" PQ. I'm not interested in "perfect". Not everything is going to be Avatar or Tron: Legacy. In fact, it's the pursuit of such image quality that often results in studios going through the effort of applying DNR. It would actually take less effort on their part to leave the image alone and preserve the grain structure.

For myself, I consider "The Godfather" to be reference quality - not because it's "perfect", but because it's "faithful". That's all I want.

Wanting to get your money's worth is no sin. You buy BD because you demand quality. Why give your blessing to a weak product?

Well, nobody can enjoy it until at least the 12th, so can we keep *****ing till then?

Plus, I don't think the two are mutually exclusive, so I'll test that theory by *****ing on the internet whilst watching these on the weekend of the 16th.

I think that's a fantastic idea! Why don't they do this with every film??
