Agreeing with every other posted review by people except you was unbiased based on people who own the discs and not judge the release upon some compressed pirated rip that someone took a screenshot off and compressed to an inch of its life. Using the word reference and being completely taken apart for it when I was referring to a '77 film and the quality it has been brought up to, using a 4.5 when only a 4 would do because personal opinion counts for squat, not posting screenshots because you would have to bypass the copy protection on the disc to do so to prove a personal viewpoint that you disagree with, and frankly I have better things to do than Star Wars. Clearly you 'haters' don't. (seriously, is there not an age restriction on this site to prevent children posting?)

Really, you do need to get out more

The good news is I have the set, have helped some on here with their queries and now never need to come back or post again. Enjoy everyone.
Well said Merlin. At the end of the day, everything is opinion based...one man's 4.5 is another's 3. Nothing is fact, and I'm glad you think highly of them; I'm sure I will too, because I've been looking forward to the whole saga on Blu for years now.

#Fail would have worked better in this post.

All the young kids are doing it! :-)

BTW - Is Fail Harder the new sequel to Die Harder? :-)

Target has the cheapest price at retail $79.99 for the complete 9 BD set...its also in their ad so if you can't make it to a Target you can use the ad elsewhere to price match

Good to hear AotC still has that nice kick to it! That was always my favorite for audio. Looking forward to hearing it. Yeah, those lightsabers sound/feel amazing on ep 2! This was probably the biggest letdown for me going to Ep 3 was the lightsabers lost their impact which sounds like is still the case and I assume we are getting the same tame mix for Ep 3 as we had on dvd.

How is RotS? Same mix as the dvd to your ears?

Thanks.

I can't wait to hear the Seismic charges, it should be AMAZING!

I took my son to "star wars in concert" last year and the ROTS music was incredible. They even had a choir to sing along. It brought chills up my spine.....

Thanks for that. I just checked out your HT gallery, and I see you have a nice setup! Have you seen all of the movies? How does 'A New Hope' sound?

I think I know what you're talking about. Are you refering to the chopped-off audio edits? I would be interested in hearing about this too.

I just tried to buy the box set from Best Buy (online for store pickup) free film cel and free tshirt (shipped not in stock) $79.99. It said that it was not available! What is up with that? Is it because the release day is Friday?

Right, the release day is Friday. They probably already have them sitting in the back room, and if they don't, their order is probably on its way.

From everything I've heard, Target, Best Buy, and Walmart all have it for that price. I'm still hoping that one of them will underbid the others on release day, but I don't really expect for that to happen.

Been a while since I saw Starwars, been waiting for the blurays like the rest of you. There is insane bass at the beginning, obi and anakin flying by the republic cruisers, but like you say, lightsabers dont have the same impact sound they have in ep 2, and also in ep 1. Im in the middle of ep 5 now, and OT sfx on lightsabers seem unchanged.
Ep 3 is still an awesome soundtrack, but almost everything seems pale after AOTC

No. I am referring to when Ben removes his hood to look at R2. The music cue is almost 2 seconds early on it.

And when the gang is standing on the cliff looking at the seedy spaceport, the music cue is about 1 second too soon.

I do not know how many versions that this has been this way...maybe all of them going all the way back to it's original release, but this has been one fix that I have been hoping that they would correct as I find it really jarring.

How's the audio??? Anybody??? Hello???
Sorry, can't really help you out a great deal with the audio. I'm not really an audio guy, I concentrate more on the visuals. I can give you my rough thoughts though.

My general impression was that I thought the OT sounded very impressive. It is true though what Adywan has said before in this thread, that the music often gets dampened by the sound effects in certain scenes and is less prevalent than it used to be in releases before the 2004 dvds. I love film soundtracks so i'm not so happy about that but others that like their films bombastic with impressive sound effects will love this sound mix that emphasises those things.

The PT sounds excellent from what I could tell, which is to be expected because they are fairly modern films with all the latest sound capturing technology used.

So all in all the audio is very good, especially what i've seen of the Prequel Trilogy. I expect AOTC and ROTS to sound even better.

What gives you the impression I am an 'apologist' as you call it? I couldn't gve a crap about these films other than as the popcorn fare they actually are. Have they changed my life, no, do i watch them religiously looking for changes, no, do I collect stuff, no. Do I care about George Lucas and whether people hate or love him, no he has nothing to do with me or my life. He makes films, he hasn't cured cancer. They are films, which is something people of your ilk tend not to be able to see beyond. This childish hater and apologists viewpoint is great for the playground, but seriously???

Was it a rant or just pointing out how pathetic and completely untrue and contradictory to my posts your posts are, have been and clearly will continue to be?

I wasn't going to post again, but couldn't resist it based on your latest childish comments. Enjoy watching it round your friends house

Why don't you just give it a rest, leave it to the professionals and then tell me you told me so. I hope they don't agree with you, but I wont be here to hear it.

I find that alot of movies made in the seventies and early eighties are using too much music to emphasise when there is an exciting moment in a film, and have always thought that esb and especcially anh did this too much. To my ears this has been toned down abit, and it is a much more balanced mix now.
Also just saw the garbage dump scene, and Slave 1 audio was beefed up to ep 2 sound/level, cant say I noticed that on DVD..

Highly sensitive to DNR?

Enthusiasts should start making Home Theatre Alert bracelets to let people know that in case they slip in to a coma not to subject their limp lifeless body to repeat viewings of Predator Ultimate Hunter Edition....

We had the opening battle above Coruscant posted yesterday and it seemed to ahve improved bass, I've always found that scene oddly lacking on the DVD's. I expect huge explosions as the Jedi fighters fly through the battle but it seems quite subdued.

Has this been improved for the Blu-ray's?

I'm still incredibly torn about getting this next week. If there's a great supermarket deal I might jump at it. Otherwise I'll wait until Christmas or the first big price drop.
