I saw the green in the caps on my computer screen but not on the BD's on my properly set up HDTV. It looked perfect.

It's a fantasy film. It's not supposed to be shot in natural light. The night's will have a blu-ish look. Most of the film's day shots will have an earthy, green-ish look to it. That's what cinematographers do with films like this. It's not a modern-day comedy set in the States. I assume PJ was tweaking the new BD's for what he and the DP originally wanted for the DVD's.

The Star Wars films are also fantasy films and the lighting is very specific to the location where the scenes are. The Hoth scenes are white snow except for the almost night shots with Ben where there's a blu-ish look. When they are found the next morning it snaps right back to bright white snow.

I don't have a problem with Tatooine's sky being slightly off blue sky. It's not Earth after all.

It's a good thing that it's $80.00 for 6 good movies then. Makes it much better.

But to be serious... maybe one of your friends will buy the complete set and you can borrow the extras discs?

Must get kinda squishy in there, eh? What flavor do you feel best in?

Some people were convinced they were going to love everything about this set the second it was announced, and have done nothing but make excuses for every reasonable complaint against it, so it's pretty hard to take what they say seriously or have any expectation that their opinion will be even remotely objective.
You could say almost the same thing about the haters, although I personally think most of the objectivity was drained from this thread about 1,500 pages ago.

In the end I'll need to see it for myself, but if there isn't a teal shift in AOTC (regardless of whether Joe Sixpack can see it or not) I will eat a bag of nails. You heard it here first.

Enjoy your meal; at the very least, it'll help clean your teeth.

If there's anything to learn from this, is to NOT unload your Dvd's until the blu's are in-hand. I unloaded all of my SW Dvd's in January, giving them all to my nephew, thinking all of the extras would carry over and of course, they didn't. Not only am I buying the blu's, but now have to go back and get the Dvd's again - just for the documentaries. I did just pick up new/sealed 2006 OT copies, which I was lucky to come across. Now I just have to pick up the PT and the 2004 bonus disc.

I was actually expecting there to be a lot more changes to be honest...

It looks like all DVDActive did is update their old articles with the info circulating online.

*Thumbs Up* Way to half ass your reporting guys. Never change.

A couple of people that have already received their set have said that the "Special Features" are nothing to write home about.

Watch once then be done with them.

Empire of Dreams was cool, but IIRC it spent an hour and half on the first film, and then an hour combined for ESB and ROTJ. Not enough in-depth stuff for the sequels, not at all.

Does anybody have a pic of what the WalMart poster looks like? Their site is not letting me look at the ad.

Im in the middle of ep 5 now, and OT sfx on lightsabers seem unchanged.
Ep 3 is still an awesome soundtrack, but almost everything seems pale after AOTC
That's alittle disappointing. So all the lightsabers are anchored to the center channel, just like in the theatrical and DVD releases, and just like the OT. So just like before, on the sound dept., there's TPM and AOTC, and then there's the other 4.

I don't have a pic of it, but it's Boba Fett on a Boga ( the lizard/bird creature thing in ROTS).

Yeah, I'd much rather have been given HD versions of the stuff from the DVDs, especially "Empire of Dreams". Doing the same for the "Musical Journey" videos wouldn't have been a bad idea, either. The only extras I'm really interested in are the archive commentaries, and the 30-year retrospective for "Empire".

I've watched Empire of Dreams about 5 times now since it came out. I even have it converted to divx on my external hard drive along with all the movies. It's nice to watch when I'm deployed.

To me, that's just not a fair assessment of the product at all. Some people can't afford the mega screens and projectors in their homes. Are their assessments of this set wrong if they view the discs on a 42" screen at an average viewing distance?

Who's right?

Episode II was cropped to obtain the scope aspect ratio.
Actually, most movies look great on my 140inch screen from my 720p projector.. In fact, it looks better than on my 32inch 1080p Sony Bravia! But yes, every minute detail is visible which is sometimes a bad thing.

You would be surprised how affordable projectors have become. I spent 700$ on my projector and 200$ on my screen and it turned out to be cheaper than my LCD. The picture is phenomenal.

Also, why aren't blu-rays anamorphic? If episode II was cropped to obtain 2.35:1, why couldn't they give us the full image instead, like avatar or the dark knight imax scenes?

Ok Thanks. I still think I'll go for either Target or Best Buy. The lithographs should be pretty nice and the Vader shirt looks pretty good.

They left anamorphic out of the spec for Blu Ray which IMHO was a HUGE mistake.......

If you view your display from the correct distance, it should all be relative. I have a 126" scope setup and my viewing distance is 16'. What was posted earlier is true, watch a 50" tv from 10' (should be viewed around 6.5') and it is hard to see the difference between Blu Ray and SD DVD.

That's probably what I'll end up doing. I keep thinking "it's star wars, just buy them all" but I have to keep reminding my self of all the other great releases coming out this year. I have the dvds of episodes II and III, and a vhs of phantom menace (it's definitely my least favorite) which are good enough for me right now (I should probably upgrade that vhs though haha)
