Seeing the Special Editions of Star Wars was overall a good experience for me-- just seeing them on the big screen was awesome. Plus, at the time, there were no issues over preservations/releases of the UOT.

However, there were some problems. At the screenings I attended, reaction was a mixed bag. People still cheered at the great moments, like the Death Star exploding, etc. But those altered scenes, like the Greedo shooting thing and the "Jedi Rocks" sequence were met with an uncomfortable, stony silence. You could tell everybody was thinking-- "...what the hell was that?"

Nowadays, new changes are pretty much met with laughter-- because at this point, who cares, right? You're either on board for all of Lucas' revisions, prequels, etc. or not. So when I saw the "NOOOOOOO!" clip in RotJ, it was hilarious. Everybody I showed, we would just start busting up laughing. Kind of like a "Oh, that George..." mentality. Of course now I'm not buying the OT Blu-Rays, 'cause there's no way I'm paying for and watching... that. So it's just funny now. That's my take on it, anyway.

There's nothing wrong with Belgians as individuals, really. But from what I understand, Belguim is essentially divided (geographically, socially, liguistically, politically, economically, etc.) between 2 completely different people groups: The Dutch-speaking Flemish (northern half of Belgium) and the French-speaking Walloons (southern half), with Brussels smack-dab in the middle. Almost everything is run by the "regional authorities" of said group, excepting the justice system, armed forces, and public finance. There are no cross-regional political parties, and no national identity as such. It's essentially 2 completely different countries with one capital city.

Totally agreement on PQ for OT.
Tpm 1 mark less
AOTC 1 mark less
Rots 'reference quality'

And remember, these are the review scores I think it will get. Remember

Lmao

I haven't seen them in here all night I am guessing that they saw the review and their tiny little heads exploded.

I just read the full review.

Besides the somewhat, I'll say editorial comments on the quality of the prequel trilogy movies, the review should make everyone ready to buy this.

The audio sounds ready to p*ss my neighbors off this weekend!!!

Nice review. I agree with the author that the new stuff can be physically painful.

Cool.

One of the moments when people literally laughed in the theater was when R2-D2 fell over after the Jawas zapped him. I'd forgotten that was actually funny for people. Cracked me up in 1997 -- the people in the theater, not necessarily R2-D2 -- Ha ha! LOL

Check the sides of your Home Theater! There may be smokin' laser blasts on the walls when you're done!!!

One thing I am sad about with this release is that Van Ling did not do the menus. He did the wonderful menus on all of the SW DVDs, and other films that secured his ability to do them for LucasFilm's SW gems.

Do people like the menus for this Blu release?

I heard they were pretty impressive and very easy to navigate. I will let you know Friday how they are.

Here is my feeling -- if you have kids -- about what you should do when you watch these Star Wars films on Blu!

It's only funny if you support droid cruelty!
I can't wait for Friday. I work at a WalMart, and my shift is always 4pm-1am, so I'm not leaving without a copy that night!

Can anyone clarify this statement? It sounds like all discs might feature both French and French-Quebec dubs; I've read elsewhere that the prequels have a French-Quebec dub, whereas the OT features regular French dubs.

I would really like to know if Vader screams No just once? The video "released" on Aug 31st shows Vader saying no kinna quietly then he screams NOOOOO while picking up the emperor. After reading the review on here he makes it seem like Vader only screams the big NOOOO. It was that first no that really bothered me. I can pretty much live with the NOOOO because its just replacing a grunting sound he always made. I and just about everybody else liked the grunt because thats what its always been but I could at least live with the new NOOOO when he picks him up.
