I am requesting the following,

The Phantom Menace

Yeah, I do think the manufacturers trust their own hype a little too much. I remember when DVDs first came out, and all the PR claimed they were "virtually indestructible", and of course they proved to be anything but. And now they're trying the same mularkey with BDs.

But, that said ... the only thing I have with packaging similar to the US Star Wars set is the local release of the two "Spartacus" TV series so far, which came in bound book form made of the same type of printed cardboard sleeves. I haven't had the slightest hint of a scuff mark on the discs in those sets from the cardboard; just the occasional fingerprint on the playing surface if I'm clumsy in the handling of them. But you get that with amaray cases, as well.

Plus the UK saga set has the Yoda/Vader images from the separate trilogy sets on discs 1 and 6 :-)
And I'm tempted to buy the trilogy sets, not least because I like those two graphics on the cases better than the "(Never Will Be) Complete(d) Saga" box. It's not the most important thing, but I find the UK disks a bit garish, myself.

I have now checked out AOTC and ROTS and I would give the former 3/5 for PQ (due to the substancial amount of DNR, though nowhere near as much as TPM) and ROTS a 4/4.5 out of 5 for PQ, dependant on whether you don't mind that 'digital' look, because that transfer really is very impressive for having been shot on a digital camera. (that said, there are still moments when it looks a little soft and I still think it could have looked even better if it'd been shot on film IMHO)

For somebody that's more tolerant of DNR than I am, I pretty much agree with Casey's assessment of the PQ on the Prequel Trilogy.

I personally thing he's been a little to generous giving the original trilogy all 4.5/5 for PQ as he has but its probably understandable that he's more bowled over by the PQ if he's only see the dvd or sky hd broadcast. The german hdtv stream I've had for over two years is very similar in PQ so I was expecting a little more from the blu-rays, hence the 4/5 that I gave them. I also strongly believe the transfers would look much better if they had been rescanned with modern equipment like with the FOTR EE blu-ray transfer, rather than using the old 2004 Lowry masters that the dvds are based off.

No mention in his review of the blue tint added to the OT for the DVDs and Blu-ray as well and he suggests that the lightsabers don't change colour when they clearly do in certain scenes. Luke's green/white/blue lightsaber when he's training on the Millenium Falcon is one scene that immediately comes to mind, as is Vader's orange lightsaber during the lightsaber fight in the Carbon Freeze chamber in Empire Strikes Back, when luke has rolled down the stairs and Vader jumps down after him. If these issues don't bother him (or perhaps he didn't notice them), I can understand why Casey would rate the OT 4.5/5 for PQ.
I guess we should have just let you review them, although on second thoughts in the words of Vader nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo we shouldn't.

To the rest. Enjoy.

Totally agreement on PQ for OT.

AOTC 1 mark less

I am basing this on the unboxing video of the UK set, and CRS's pics.
This image is actual split in half and used as the art on the chapter listing inside the individual trilogy's.

Lukes half is in the OT set and Anakins half in the PT set.

It doesn't matter to me what opinions were/are cause my gameplan for these movies on BD as well as most any catalog title I like was to buy and not get shut out on release day, rent it to judge myself, and decide later whether to keep the set or not.

I'd be surprised if anyone lets reviews take precedent over their own judgment. I know some cannot rent them BUT that should be few and far between (BBV and Netlix will have them) and that is the safest way if you are on the fence whatsoever.

Why do you think the US packaging is better?

Was going to get the UK version because it has disc cases...Like with the Alien blu ray set. But now I wonder with so many saying they prefer the US packaging.

I'm sure it's mostly aesthetic reasons. And not having to import.

I hate plastic trays like on the UK Star Wars set. And I'm more than happy with the US Alien Anthology.

I'm seriously thinking about canceling my Amazon.com order and just picking this up at Target at 8am on Friday on the way to work.

Originally, I thought that saving the tax ($4.80) would be worth it and I could wait an extra few days.

But now that I've waited for these in HD since 2006, I'm thinking it's worth the 4.80 to just have them in hand on Friday. Also then I can watch them all weekend with my kids.
