Because obviously the silly sticky security piece they insert INSIDE the package clearly isn't enough, they want to ruin the package and give you an imperfect package!

It sucks being a stickler for these kind of things, what should really matter is the content on disc, but it just puts a damper on things if you don't have a clean package.

I must say, I decided to watch from I-VI for the first time, so I started with TPM, and I gotta say the PQ is quite off. The CGI looks severely outdated (shocked George didn't try to touch that up!). Nearly all the CGI creatures (Jar Jar, Watto, Nass, the sea creatures) all look pretty dated. They look pristine, but they're just dated. The DNR is very evident even from the opening scenes aboard the ship. All human characters feel very soft and waxy, and in non-close up shots, seem fuzzy at times. Generally the non-CGI environments look very nice, but with the outdated CGI and hte DNR it often makes everything seem out of place, similar to what you'd see in a modern SyFy dinosaur flick. The puppets also had DNR done to them and they look even more peculiarly waxy to the point it seems like they're CGI.

From reviews I've read, the first film looks the worst, and I have hope they'll get better, but there's no doubt this one hasn't aged well.

Darth Maul looks pretty damn good I must say though, and most scenes in the dark/space scenes are pretty well done.

In my case, I paid $16 for that damn poster. But it rang up $96.xx. Get my drift?

Watching Episode IV right now, the picture is soo excellent! And I really like the packaging style for the complete saga (still don't like the actual cover art, but it's not like I'll be looking at it on my shelf ;P ). It takes up less space than six regular Blu-ray cases which is always a plus in my book!

I was reading the list of bonus features, the amount that are in this set is awesome. I can't wait to check out the deleted scenes!!!

And FYE was giving out free double-sided posters with the pre-order, which I'd MUCH rather have than lithographs or the cell (or whatever) that Best Buy was giving out. Sure it was a little more expensive buying it from there but it's ok, it's not like I'm not gonna watch these movies a ton of times anyway :P

Also, these don't come with digital copies right? It would've been so cool if they did!

Just finished TPM and it's like I saw it for the first time. Completely re-discovered. The PQ is really good. There are some bad shots, but the overall presentaion blew me away. This movie has never looked better. And I love the new color timing. Hated that stupid and annoying red tint from the DVD. The sound is phenomenal. Reference quality. The new changes are great, makes for a better movie imo. I love new CGI Yoda. Overall I rate TPM 3.5/5 stars. Really good movie and still my favorite prequel, though ROTS is the better movie!

I looked at the PT and OT cases, and I admit, I kinda liked the spines of the PT and OT blu-ray cases with the roman numerials.

Ah well, got all four movies with extras. I'm set for the weekend.
So which two are you ignoring because you perceive them to be bad?

Wal-Mart Packaging??

Just got the complete saga from Walmart! Pumped to watch! What are people's opinions on the packaging? I think it looks nice, but my only worry is the slots for the blu-ray, I hope the discs don't get scratched taking them out.

Haha, I don't know. I haven't done that and won't do it. Even if Greedo shoots a few frames earlier than Han, does it make any difference? Not to me.

Don't worry. The discs won't get scratched. I've had the Alien Anthology set for months and they are all fine.

The packaging is sure nice and I'm really impressed by it. Although it took me a while to find a set that is not bent from the bottom and that is tight on the booklet.
Lots of them were loose and have gaps however I finally found one that the slipbox was tight on the booklet inside.

I like it a lot. I am not worried about scratching the discs, but I am concerned that I am going to rip some of the cardboard apart when removing the discs.

It's definitely not ideal, but with the book packaging, it's hard to complain when they're so beautifully created.

But it's idiotic policy. To price match your competition (on sometimes just the word of the customer) but not your own damned website is just plain ****ing stupid.

So really, what I take away from my experience last night at WallyWorld is that I had to pay $10 (plus 6.75% tax) for that "free" poster. Because if their on-line price is for in-store pick-up as well, then...you know...

I love the Alien Anthology packaging but that's exactly the right concern.

The discs are going to be just fine, it's the cardboard pages you have to be careful with.

I like the packaging a lot more then I thought I would. Feels great in your hands -- solid, and kinda heavy. Matte finish is nice, and reminiscent of VHS covers.

LOL

But hey, again, $45 is worth waiting a couple of days.

I asked a rep at B&N, and they have no problem with this: I'm most likely going to buy it in store at whatever price it is then return my mailed copy with the store receipt.
